DRO submitted

Hi, my DRO was submitted on the morning of Monday 27th March. I was told by the person doing my DRO I would hear from the insolvency service in a couple of days. I still haven't heard anything and it's now 4th April. What do I do? Or do I just keep waiting?
Does it mean there's a problem?
Any advice will be gratefully received.
Thank you

  • yes I have checked and checked but still nothing. I'm so worried that perhaps they haven't received my application, computer glitch etc, or just been missed somehow. There is posts from others saying they heard the same or next day. I'm so worried I feel sick .

I suspect it is more to do with it being a busy holiday time for a lot of people and they may be short staffed.

Did you keep a copy of everything for the application?  If nothing happens by this time next week you could always try resubmitting it.

  • I've been informed that you cannot have your application resubmitted. I have to wait 6 years. Even if it never gets looked at. ( totally odd way of working in my opinion)
Is there anyway I can check the insolvency service have received my application.

Hi, when I submitted an application for my DRO - ten years ago now though - I was told it could be a week or more before I heard anything. It's a very anxious time - I know how you feel. It was 8 days later that I got my letter of  acceptance through the post. As far as I'm aware, the official receiver has to check your application thoroughly, which means contacting the credit report agencies to ensure that all the facts are in order before they can accept it.

If they've had a lot of applications to process that may hold things up - and I'm not sure how reliable the post is these days - also as Brie says, above, it's coming up to Easter and staff may be on leave, anything could have caused a delay.

There's this information on the Debt Camel website from last year -

"How long does it take to approve a DRO?

It’s quick! Your DRO Adviser will usually get an email a couple of working days after submitting the application to say it has been approved.

The letter to you confirming this, called the Debtor’s Notice, is posted the same day your DRO Adviser is told, so you usually get it the day after. It’s a good idea to keep this letter safe, even when your DRO has finished, because it proves what debts are included in your DRO.

The Insolvency Register is also updated, showing your DRO."

(It's in this link - scroll down a bit to the correct paragraph -

    https://debtcamel.co.uk/dro-applications-faqs/#How_long_does_it_take_to_approve_a_DRO )

You could always contact your DRO adviser if you haven't heard anything in the next couple of days, see if they've heard anything.

I don't think it'd be a good idea to re-submit your application. You probably couldn't do that without an adviser anyway and you may well have to pay another £90 to do so.

I hope that's of some help, just my own opinions and thoughts of course. Good luck.

  • Thank you. I will try not to worry so much. I will try to contact my DRO advisor if I haven't heard by Tuesday after Easter. I will let you all know if and when I hear anything. Thank you all again for listening.

The 6 years  is from an approved submission, not from one which failed to go through.

OR didn't use to obtain credit reports as a matter of course, why do you think they do @MalMonroe ?

I went through Citizens Advice when I had mine and that took about 3 weeks from initial contact before it went through.

A lot of people are applying for them at mo, as they were when I did and I was told times would increase before anything got sorted etc.

Give them a call after Easter. All will be fine.
  • Thank you. I am trying not to worry as there is absolutely nothing I can do about it until after Easter. This is all so stressful though. As you said it will probably all be fine. I will let you all know as soon as I hear anything further.
