Tesco continue to take payment on closed account

I closed my tesco mobile account on 21st March and left my Tesco DD payment going to allow a refund to be made
I had transferred my account to Talkmobile by PAC code
Today - Tesco took another standard monthly payment by DD
What are the rules about this ?
If I was half as smart as I think I am - I'd be twice as smart as I REALLY am.

If the payment has been taken in error, the rule is that you request it back.

It depends what the payment was for, if there was a fixed term contract stull running despite a "closed" account, if it is an error then you either request Tesco return it or you use the Direct Debit guarantee. Have you contacted them to ask why they took a payment?MouldyOldDough said:I closed my tesco mobile account on 21st March and left my Tesco DD payment going to allow a refund to be madeI had transferred my account to Talkmobile by PAC codeToday - Tesco took another standard monthly payment by DDWhat are the rules about this ?1 -
I have messaged Tesco mobile and wonder whether I should not have cancelled my DD on the transfer day ?

Usually there is no need, it also makes things such as a final bill much easier and removes the risk of a final bill resulting in a missed payment marker on one's credit file. Once you know the reason you can either receive a refund, or if it is correct then let it stay and then cancel the Direct Debit.MouldyOldDough said:I have messaged Tesco mobile and wonder whether I should not have cancelled my DD on the transfer day ?0 -
Similar situation
I transferred from Plusnet to Asda with a PAC code but didn't close the DD and another payment was taken
I then closed the DD and a couple of weeks later received a cheque from. Plusnet less the amount I had been charged which was roughly 50%0 -

Out of contract does that mean you weren't using your phone ?MouldyOldDough said:MattMattMattUK said:

I did continue to use my phone on the new suppliers contract
That can't be right

That can't be rightAssuming you are beyond the minimum contract period... it depends on when your last bill was generated. Once you have been billed, providers usually take that payment by direct debit at a later date. In this scenario, you will need to wait for the folowing billing/direct debit cycle to be refunded. If this is not the case, then contact Tesco Mobile to ask.0
