Oldest lad has just tidied his room...........out came three black bags of 'stuff' to be binned..........a load of washing and when I looked, everything in his room suddenly had a 'home' - shoes all lined up one the floor so neatly......at his girlfriends suggestion I just had to take a photo of them - not sure how long they'll stay that way:rotfl:
Youngest lad not in good books..........trip with the youth club all booked and paid for to the local RAF station today and he decided he wasn't going and that was that. ...........preferring instead to mooch about the house with a long face or try and annoy oldest boy and his girlfriend.
It was a real battle to get oldest lads 18th birthday card made with doors being slammed, kids up and down stairs...........still, I got it done and carried on with some door hangers as well so I'm getting there, despite plans to have a peaceful day going out the window.
Maybe tomorrow ??? Theres another youth club trip he's booked on.........will he go I wonder ?
Least I had an afternoon out at my friends yesterday........peace and quiet, middle of the country side, no loud music...............bliss and much needed. :o
Still waiting for cheque book from bldg.soc. for mums account. Think a phone call is in order..........if I can get some peace and quiet long enough to make it...............lol ;)

Well, today the youngest duly trotted off for trip to youth club in nearby town. All is well, thought I, getting out a tin of paint to set to and paint some door hangers and peg rack. Getting along nicely...........phone rings to say young lad has had a mood on and walked out of the youth club ! I phoned him -he said he was there, I said 'no you're not so get back there quickly'.................this he did (surprise surprise !) and after long chat with youth worker seemed to settle down a bit so hopefully he'll come home in a good mood (least better than yesterday).
Painting went all weird............well I thought so anyway so will return to battling it out with paper and glue.
Least oldest boys shoes are still all in a row........................lol:T

My eldest son is have a couple of days in Liverpool as a birthday treat - he's a total Beatles fanatic and is loving every minute.........tours round the Lennon/McCartney houses, Magical Mystery Tour.......hope he gets time for a Ferry Cross the Mersey................:j

Still no runner beans to pick. Old chap down our road said not to water them anymore.........too much water can slow them down, so he says. So, we'll do that and see what happens.............course, not much we can do if it pours with rain !
    Hope everyone is ok.....................:o

Hi Mary, quiet on this thread - is Ceridwen away?

I've been out playing tennis with the DD this morning. Tennis club person asked if we wanted to take it any more seriously and I said "maybe when you have a session for old codgers who can barely run anymore" and she reckons they are setting one of those up in November! So I might go along to that. It's to get people back into sport who haven't participated maybe since they left school - non-competitive and just a bit of fun.

I'm feeling strangely lethargic this afternoon though - not like me. I might just go with the mood and go and read a book or something, in case I'm coming down with something. We are seeing friends for the day on Sunday and I need to cook on Saturday for it (we are all taking a contribution) so I can't fall ill right now.

2cats - don't know where ceridwen is......or anyone else

Well done you for having a go with a tennis racket...............sport never been my strong point.....game of pool maybe but nothing energetic.......just not be. Was born to be idle I think..............lol
Take care of yourself..........you could just have overdone it a bit......you have been busy of late, so do what your body tells you to do............take it easy, relax and enjoy a good book.:o

  • I've been trying to simplify my life for ages but I can now see that things are slowly coming together. I guess it doesn't help that I'm a terrible hoarder but I'm going to try and not buying anything unless it's a necessary item or of course food to try and stop my hoarding ways. My house if full to bursting!

Today I've started with under the sink in the kitchen, I thought at least one small thing each day will certainly help to simplify things.

I've also been given an extra freezer so that I can freeze some of the excess veg that I've grown in the garden and I can also bake more things when I use the oven and freeze them too :D

I also would like to get all of the junk out of the conservatory today so that when I walk in it's a nice place to be rather than looking half like my shed

I'm terribly disorganised but very good at procrastination :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:

Right I'll get back to it, sort out that conservatory and then I can pat myself on the back for a job well done :j
I won't buy it if I can make or borrow it instead

purplesparkles - ah, a fellow hoarder..............hard to let go of things sometimes isn't it. You're very brave tackling the cupboard under the sink.............I've been putting ours off for a long time now and clearing the rooms/cupboards that are more 'fun' to go through........trouble is then I spend hours drooling over something and trying to work out to I want it/not want it/need it etc.
Earlier this year my little den/comp.room was all cleared out and tidy.........sadly now it is full again though this time with 'stuff' en route to somewhere else.........christmas stuff I'm doing that'll end up in a gift basket in the spare room till December. Least my cupboards and drawers are organised...........photo albums are on the list for a proper sort out when the winter sets in along with a lot of family history stuff.
You'll get there............just take your time. and good luck :j

  • Yes I admit it, my name is purplesparkles and I am a hoarder

I feel so much better now I've admitted it :rotfl::rotfl:

Mary43 - Yes it is hard to let go of things but I'm trying to work to a rule of it Why did I buy it? Did I use it? For other things it's Do I really like it? Does it fit/suit me? If the answers are no they go into Freecycle/charity or recycle bins.

Makes me sound like I'm organised and I've sorted it all out, I've only just started, lol!

Anyway I've done under the sink :T:T:T:T I'm sooooo proud, I keep opening the cupboard and looking at the organised space :D

My whole house sounds like your den Mary, but not as bad as it was 12 months ago thankfully.

I think there's more to life than housework :rotfl::rotfl:

Hi Mary, quiet on this thread - is Ceridwen away?

    .

    Hi all:grin: :hello:

Yep - Got that in one - I have been away. Aww...shucks...and thanks Charis for the personal email wondering if I was okay.

Yep - I'm okay and I'm now back.

To be precise - and being me it probably doesnt take too much guessing what sort of "away" I would be - I was on a wild food foraging course in Lostwithiel, Cornwall, for a few days. I'll probably put a bit about on "me blog". I've just got back and am now catching up on things.

So - 'twas a useful course and hopefully I've learnt a bit - enough to help me out a little possibly with food bills perchance - hopefully - maybe. So - he (Marcus Harrison) knew his stuff and the 2 other people I found were attending also on my tailormade course I'd fixed up with Marcus were fine and interesting company.

So - yep...back to it....and off to catch up everyone's news...(note to Weezl and Acetate Monkey - shame you couldnt make it to come along as well arter all (as you were hoping) - as you woulda liked it - but I'll send you an email telling more).

Hi all, I am so proud, organised my under-sink area a little last night - folded plastic bags (unheard of in our house) and popped them into one small bag, which now hangs off a hook on the inside of the cupboard door.

I also got borax from Tesco - no real idea of what to do with it now I have it... :o

Over the weekend I want to put a large suitcase we have in a cupboard, on top of our wardrobe instead. This will save space in the cupboard. Then, I want to place some junk that is in the cupboard, into drawers under our bed. That way, the linen can move from under the bed (hard to reach as drawer opens only 15 inches) into the cupboard, easy to fold and see what we have... also may be a chance to give away junk we don't need rather than have it stashed in the cupboard. :T

I would dearly love to get some of those wire racks that you can put in a kitchen cupboard, to allow more storage? ie: 2 levels instead of one - any ideas? I don't know what to call them to enable me to search online...

Hi ceridwen - good to see you back and at least we all know you're ok.
Bet that was an interesting course to go on.........and meeting like minded people in the process.
After all my muddling with door hangers and peg racks for christmas pressies I'm having a day off from it today. Its our lads 18th today and he's already been to the pub............. So, need to keep an eye on him I think as he's back and forth all the time. At least the youngest ones on a contact visit today so one less to worry about.
At last the runner beans are sprouting again -picked a few this morning -and tomatoes are starting to ripen in groups as opposed to one at a time............lol
Tidied up my card making boxes...........couldn't believe the muddle they'd got into but now I can actually see what I've got ! With the same could be same for the rest of my little den -door hangers, pag racks, all in varioys stages of being 'done'.............load of 'freebies' on my desk I'd sent for from the freebies board that just might go into christmas baskets.......I seem to have been sent some dog food samples (sure I ticked the box that said 'cats') but maybe my friend can use them. I must have enough anti-ageing creams to start a shop...................lol:rotfl:

Spoke to my brother this morning -actually managed it without a cross word being said.......in fact we had quite a laugh.........surprise surprise !
Mum seems to be more awake and alert...........amazing what winter hibernation can do so it seems. Her birthdays coming up in a fortnight and I'm at a total loss what to get her. I'm going down for a few days then, brother says he needs to 'sort out a few things' with me..............mind boggles what  Still, at least, since my sessions with my counsellor I can manage to cope with whatever he throws at me (not literally)

The rest of the day is going to be a bit of a 'lazy' one I think...........but the sun is shining, washing is out..............ooops...................did I speak too soon as I notice a black cloud looming ? Best check the washing............
