ceridwen - there;s some sense in that I know and must admit when the walls up our stairs and landing needed painting we opted for white (amount of traffic up and down it !!) just need to do the woodwork white now. But I do like a bit of colour in the other rooms. Our rooms are very long and I want to avoid the 'clinical' look.........mind you with my 'stuff' on walls and shelves it would be anything but that whatever colour I painted it............lol
So I'm afraid that bit of 'simplifying' goes out of the window.
Am now eyeing up the amount of paperwork that is begging to be done...........do I do it now while OH is glued to football ? Or do I write to my boys and send them the paraphenalia I picked up for them, plus letter to Mum ?
The latter I think...............might have a clearer head in the morning for the rest................:rotfl:

  • Thanks for all the encouraging words from everybody on here. :A Jellicat, I hope you can find ways to declutter etc and bring happiness to your life. I don't know too much about feng shui, but I do know that if my room feels cluttered, it does seem to clutter my mind, too, so there must be something in that feng shui thing that rings true.

    Have a good evening, all.

....and on the simplifying front (well - sort of) I would just love to add one little addition to my wardrobe right now - one of those white boilersuit type things that anti-G.M. protesters have - as I could be sitting there soon thinking its a very desirable fashion item to have (in the cause of keeping my food just simply food - not with some genetically-engineered "whatever" in it). I wish....

Monsanto and similar firms are at it again - oh whoops rephrase that "The Government are at it again" - must watch what words I am using;) ;) . See today's article in "The Independent" re Monsanto (whoops...the Government) wants us to buy their products (whoops...help solve the food crisis) - by ta....da....putting pressure on again for G.M. food to be grown in Britain:

ceridwen - thanks for the link. I'll have a read later when I've sorted out (if ever) my freecycle membership ! No matter what I did this morning it just wouldn't accept my password..........so I asked for another............that got send through and I try again............no !!! In the end I replied via the e mail that gets sent to everyone who's a member.............now they'll all know I'm trying to get the floor tiles being offered...........they'd be perfect for my storeroom..........lovely reclaimed ones and they're in the same town as me !
OH would have to use the car but not for any distance...........it should all be so 'simple'.............so why oh why is it not ??
Oh well, such is life. I got my parcels of Liverpool paraphenalie stuffed in jiffy bags (re used ones I have to add that I've had things in), made get well card..........everything going swimmingly till bloomin' Yahoo and freecycle gggrrrrrrr:mad: (memo to self -do not get into a huff over silly website !)

Legs still recovering from endless walking but oh it was lovely to have our own bed back................no place like home is there.

Just to add further small 'rant' -just off loading it if you know what I mean...................went right back to square one with freecycle..........rejoined bloomin' yahoo..............even re joined freecycle site that now won't accept me as 'someone with my details is already a member' ................well course cos its me !!!! So, have e mailed yahoo and e mailed moderator of freecycle group before I go totally bonkers !
Floor tiles have already gone it seems but there are some pots of paint that would be worth having if only I could get in touch with the person offering....................and on top of that, bank have sent OH details on internet banking.............well you know what a muddle I got in over that.............so we ended up having a good laugh about it all despite OH's long face when I told him the floor tiles had gone............so..........concrete floor it is for now.............lol

Further apologies for little 'sounding off'

 Ummm............bit of a pause for thought............megga apologies for ranting.............come to the conclusion there is no point in worrying over something as petty..........my word what was I thinking of ??
OH has been in the garden planting more carrots and our climbing roses are looking a picture.............somehow put things into perspective and, bless him, he even cut a rose and put it in a vase on the table while we had our chicken and chips..........:p
Tomorrow will be another day...........packages will be posted off to respective No.1 and 2 sons, letter to Mum, Get Well Card to a friend and we may just get the photos developed we took in Liverpool.
General plan is to clear backlog of paperwork I'd left -told myself I was on holiday and vowed I would leave it all (except anything urgent) until tomorrow, giving us the weekend to generally relax and try and live up to the words on a small plaque bought at charity shop when we were away:

'Our wrinkles just prove we smile a lot':p

Hello everyone,my life now is far more simple,in that I don't work...but far more complicated in that I now have four children, two my own and two my partners..the changes I have been through in the last year have been huge.

I have left so much clutter behind..but maybe gained some' emotional clutter'

    Maybe a Buddhist retreat :confused::D

just found this thread, its ideal for me. Stopped work, OH likewise, spending more time gardening and cloud watching. Talking to the jackdaws & blackies, and the orange stray tom who lives in my stick box.Thanking the universe nightly for this fabulous planet - even if we seem hell-bent on ruining it. OHMMMMMMMMM....................!

I'm another one who's loving this thread, I'v started to read my way through it and have got half way so far. I think I'v had feeling to want to simplify my life for ages for life tended to get in the way, always one more job to do or something that needed finishing then I'd get around to sorting what I wanted from life, but it never happened.
Then I had some major changes in my life and ended up having a breakdown, It's taken along time and I'm still comeing to terms with how my life has changed, I was in denial for ages that anything was even any differnent.
But now I know I need to slow down and find a simpler way to live, I guess in one way I'm lucky it's like I'm starting with an almost clean slate. I don't know what I really want or who I really am anymore but I do know I can't get back on the merry go round i was on before.
Because of my illness and haveing to finish work my finances have got in a right mess but i'm actually finding i enjoy learning to buget and use cash again instead of relying on credit. I'm picking lots of tips up from this board.
My home is my sanctuary now but looking round you would not believe how much decluttering I need to do and I just don't know where to start. Having FM complicates matters because I get exhausted just doing small things then I lose heart. Any tips on where I start with my home would be wellcomed.
