Ellidee - this sounds like a good plan. I'm bound to procrastinate less if I do a little piece at a time. I must think this through..... If you have done this, did you not feel you spent too much time cleaning up again and again after a session (paint brushes, etc.) which you needn't have done when doing it all in one go??"Remember that many of the things you have now you could once only dream of" - Epicurus0

Err my dh does the decorating but I help with moving and cleaning up. If you are going to carry on later that day or the next day wrap brush/roller & paint tray in cling film & place in a plastic bag & fasten to keep airtight. We tend to buy cheap brushes and rollers so would chuck them after a weekend and use new the next time.Nothing is so fatiguing as the eternal hanging on of an uncompleted task. William James0

Doing things like that piecmeal never seems to work very well for us with decorating......maybe we're not strict enough with ourselves to set a routine of days to do bits.........its so easy to say 'oh leave it till another day'........having said that, it worked for me de-cluttering process.........ummm..............food for thought there.
Well, lovely day, enjoyed a walk round the boot fair with ex foster girl and she treated me to a couple of plants which was kind of her.
Too hot at the moment to go and find them a ''home'.......that'll come later on as will the bedroom sorting out. Our upstairs is much hotter than downstairs and there's no sense in wearing myself out, plus I'm fast coming to the conclusion that what isn't done isn't done, its family visiting not the queen and if it was royalty would I pull out all stops ? Probably not:rotfl:Mary

Just have to tell you this............its OHs way of 'simplifying' his ever expanding collection of LP's (last lot were free so he said he just couldn't say 'no'!)
He's brought in the small greenhouse frame from the garage (the polythene covering blew away last year) popped it in a small cubby hole type place that leads off the lounge and has stacked his LP's on them.....................lol
Ingenious I think............:rotfl:Mary

Hello all,
Not sure if this is the appropriate forum, but I have been on a quest to cut debts, save money and simplify my life. Well, I would just like to say that I have really noticed the difference of how much better it is when I don't spend much. Yesterday, I went to our local town centre with some family members, and spent less than a fiver :j (this does not include essentials such as food - it's more that I am not buying things I don't need now). Which has been pretty much the same for the past few months (I can't believe the amount of c**p I used to buy!). Today, I spent the day in silence in the house, reading a book and a newspaper. No television, no music. A bit like how I would imagine it to be in the old days. I feel really refreshed and could really take to this simple life........! Has anyone else noticed the difference in their life in this way? It seems that we rush around so much, and sometimes it is nice to not spend - just sit back, chill out, read a book (hired from a library, of course). :cool:0 -

Welcome to the madhouse. I strongly suspect that you will be preaching to the converted here.
Well, there I was, cooking dinner for my Mum and me (Cumberland ring sausage, roast potatoes & parsnips, mixed veg' and gravy, all in a great big (yet only 37p) Yorkshire pudding, with Beethoven's Pastoral Symphony in the background. Oh, and I'd done a pasta & cottage cheese flan for my lunchbox next week and used up some old bananas in a smoothie for us both.
OK, we ate dinner watching the Canadian Grand Prix, but each to their own, as they say.
All that stands between me and domestic Nirvana is that heap of ironing. The acquisition of wealth is no longer the driving force in my life.0 -
I so agree with you! Walked the dog early this morning before it got too warm, tidied the house and then spent the rest of the day working in the garden, planting and weeding the veg plot with the family (well, one DD was revising but at least she was outside with us!). It was just the most fabulous day and cost nothing. Had hoped to relax in the lounger with a good book but ran out of time! I love days like this!!!0
