Sounds like you've had an industrious day ceridwen

Well, further to above post, my skeleton leaves have now stuck thank goodness so at least thats gone right.
OH is still scratching his head about the videos not playing right and I''ve told him we might as well get a 'little man in' on Tuesday.............its not the end of the world if we're without a video player for a few days is it and he can get out of his bloomin' rocking chair....................lol
After many deep sighs he agreed..........I said I'd pay for whatever it cost as his birthday present (anything for a quiet life..............lol)

So, all I have to do now is stop him dwelling on that fact that there are some things he can't do and we need to get someone in who can. Don't know why it is but he's always reluctant to ask anyone for help or get someone in. Must be a 'man' thing..............if I want help I'll jolly well ask.

Enjoy the rest of the Easter holidays :j

Everyone seems to have been industrious on here.
Mary43 - the snow defeated us as it was wet snow (I know you all Understand) and we would have got soaked in no time. So... son rigged up a slope on the stairs with blankets and we all rolled our decorated eggs at the same time - I laughed so much - it was great. They rolled down and bounced against my new pale blue painted wall - eeeek! \however, no eggie stains so all was well.We couldn't decie who won so OH got the prize (half a flake - the other half was crumbled on top of the trifle). Great prizes in this house!
Glad your leaves are sticking ok mary43.
Ceridwen - it's a great step when you can move on to do something because you have cleared 'stuff'. Menu plans are great for keeping healthy and keeping shopping down as it is so much easier to go with a list.
re mobile phones - my kids' contracts finish before summer and |I think there is a thread on |MSE on getting a knock bottom price for renewing. |Not sure how to link it though

  • Hi All :hello:
its snowing here but not settling - am worried about by tiny onion and carrot seedlings (hope they will survive the weather!)

Rosiben - didnt see your last post when posted - the phone is used but I do find it quite annoying...

Ceridwen - Good for you and good luck with slimming world meal plans - do you go to the meetings too? I went in 2006 (before wedding) but stopped after wedding as my progress was very slow looking at my old weight sheet I was thinking about maybe rejoining ( I have managed to keep the weight off - but am moving downward at an even slower snail pace  )

    mary43 - Yes it's definitely a man thing! :rotfl:

Wmf - thanks will check the thread out :T

wmf - glad you enjoyed your egg rolling..........sounds a lot of fun. What the prizes are doesn't really matter does it. When our kids were younger we used to have silly games at Christmas and the prizes were always some daft thing that was ridiculously cheap and cheerful from a local shop..........nobody quibbled.......it was all part of the fun.
Leaves still stuck ok and have now applied a coat of varnish - just hope I stirred the stuff up enough...............next step is a dark wax polish........OH says we've got some in the cupboard but its gone rock hard but a bit of warmth from the radiator should do the trick if I can stand the smell.............lol

do it today - so what if you spent half the day under the duvet yesterday..............lol It was so cold I think you were in the best place and who says we shouldn't have a day of doing totally nothing now and then anyway.

ceridwen - All this energy - you're wearing me out and making me look around at 'stuff' I'd rather not see................lol
Still, not done bad today............at least I've stuck to my 'to do' list............varnishing cupboard, finishing off sons birthday card -very fiddly it was but I know he'll like it - put final wrapping round his shoe box of bits to post off on Wednesday.........just need to put a ribbon round a wine bottle I decanted some cheap bubble bath into (part of a basket of goodies for a friend for her birthday), and attack my desk which seems to fast become a hot spot..............!!!

OH's birthday today and he';s taken himself off to meet his mate and have a pint or several. No mention of videos, dvd's, wires (relief !) -maybe he's just giving himself a day off from sitting in the rocking chair.................lol

I went to the meetings back originally - when I had to diet my way down by about 2 stones. Once I had picked up the general gist of things and bought some of the books I decided to go it alone. To me personally - I was finding that many of the other people at the meetings eat in a different way to me and often were catering for other people as well as themselves. So - for me - with eating in a wholefood/vegetarian sort of way and just catering for myself I felt I was better sorting myself out. I find it difficult to believe I could put any of the weight back on again in view of the way I eat;) :o - but I guess its down to my idea that dinner is just so much more "civilised" with a glass or two of wine to accompany it:D and so a couple of times or so a week I "reward" myself for days put in so far at w**k with that.

:D I think that counts as before the 9pm watershed info - or was that counted as exercise towards losing weight target?;) :D

Mary , you are going to have to sort out a way of getting photos on here. I'd love to see your cupboard.....you sound so creative.
Ceridwen, I know what you mean about Slimming World. I also found that the advisor often couldn't help me as she had no idea about the food I was talking about.
We don't need to do it perfectly - good enough is exactly that GOOD ENOUGH.

errr.....mary......I think your comment re do it todays duvet time counts as you having a cleaner mind than mine!!:D There must be some motto in there "Dirty mind = clean house".

Moi - ceridwen - with "all this energy"......I wish! I'm goading myself on with the thought that whatever decluttering I can do equals less time for housework and more time for me somewhere along the line.

Right - I'll just get back to that sitting room springclean/declutter again - list in hand of specific tasks to do in order of priority. "Think Zen - Think Amish - Think Zen - Think Amish". Now I wonder why the kitchen I picked out on the kitchen thread must be the simplest one on there! "Bliss - less housework" thought me.

I look round sometimes at the houses of people with lots of decorative bits and pieces around with interest - but then come back to mine, where from the point of view of actually living in a house I'm beginning to think it would be nice to just see a totally bare room with floor to ceiling and wall to wall cupboards along one wall filled with everything one wanted to store and all that was on view was some seating/a sidelight or two and a low table with just one or two flowers/candles on it. To me now that would just equal - not much housework to be done there then:D

    This is my bit!
I SO want a room with exactly that!!! Wow how peaceful would that be? And easy-peasy to clean.
Waved goodbye to son at airport today, took step son back yesterday, and now beginning to tidy up again. OH took stuff to the tip which is great because it has been sitting in the boot of my car for days.
Some light reading for the rest of the afternoon, I think. Soup pot on (tattie soup) and mince and tatties for tea. As you can see, we are using up the last of the potato sackbiggrin.gif. Will definitely get another one at the farmers' market this weekend as it was really economical.
Hope everyone has a lovely Easter Monday
