I want to simplify my life...I waste so much time messing on the internet, but my job (work for myself) demands I am on the PC in other programmes and popping on the internet to check things out, but when I pop on for work things, I inevitably get distracted via other sites!!!! Anyone managed to solve this issue? It would simplify my life grately if i didnt have the internet

jamtart, if you find out a way to do it, please post. I am also guilty of spending far too many hours clicking links when I should be cleaning sinks :rotfl: I read all about filling the freezer with home cooked ready meals (or the makings of them) but don't seem to be able to tear myself away from here for long enough to have a mammoth baking session.

PS When did Jam tarts (and everyone else's) stars turn to medals once they have earned three or more? Have I missed something? It seems they are bronze, silver and gold medals.

charis - people seem to have been given 'medals' yesterday -late afternoon. There's a lot on the 'Money Savers Arms' forum about it..................lol

jamtart -Know what you mean about getting stuck on the internet.........once I've logged on its almost like an addiction and painful to log off so I normally leave it on and keep coming back to it when I feel I've 'earned' by computer time..........lol That way I don't feel so bad about it and I get such positive vibes from our 'virtual friends' (as Aril puts it) that its really not time wasted.

I'm here now as I've just battled with a bubble vinyl floor in the kitchen - mop and bucket to hand I set too and did it.........without wrenching my back (surprise surprise !!) Probably didn't do it really well, in fact I know I didn't but it'll do for me anyway. Been raining so the cats and people will be in and out with wet feet..........by tea time it'll look like it needs doing again !

Bit tense about appointment with counsellor this afternoon............am I going to embarassingly blub the whole time ? Will I be able to talk and actually make sense ? I thought appt. was 2pm and checked - it's 3pm.........can't even remember the time right.................lol

wmf- must remember the breathing in and out method and stop blaming myself for everything and I must stop apologising too. I tend to do that a lot like I'm admitting guilt or being at fault when it's sometimes just some silly little thing thats not gone quite as intended - not a fault of mine, just something that happened.

You're very brave to venture out in the wind...........I decided to stay in and mop the kitchen floor instead of getting blown to oblivion.............lol
And you''ll find the second coat of paint will make all the difference - always seems a thankless task painting over the same colour again but it really does make it look better.

ceridwen - the ability to say nothing and walk away is something I could well to with putting into practise. I always tell the kids I have to do just that is they're ever confronted or ridiculed in any way but seem to find it hard to practise what I preach.

Charis - the medals are the new stars system. I think over 1000 posts is bronze, 2000 is silver and 10'000 is gold. See the site suggestions board for more info. Its kinda cute!!

Well I've been quite good today as my mum needed to use my room this morning, so I did my marking downstairs, and now have ventured on the dreaded pc to do some work. I'm going to do this work then pop back after the clock has struck 12... not whilst the clock says 11.XX am... perhaps this is a solution?!

Hello - it's 20 past 4 here and just to say I'm thinking of you mary43. Hoping your meeting with the counsellor went 'well', meaning that it was helpful in some way and crying your way through it counts as helpful too, as does not making any sense at all. He/ she is there to help and guide and it's best not to cover things up with a brave face. I admire you so much - you are there for so many people and have so much to give. Hoping you'll post later today so we know you're ok

ps - thanks for lovely flower and gardening ideas - I can't wait for planting to begin (when it's time!)

wmf - thanks for thinking of me. I got back just after 4pm feeling a little bit 'washed out' or 'drained' with all my negative feelings being brought to the surface but I''m sure it's going to be helpful. She's a lovely lady and we covered all kinds of issues -mostly relating to my family and my current feeling of 'lack of self worth' -though I did tell her I didnt feel like this all the time........but when I do it sort of swallows me up. (Managed not to blub the whole way through...............just a bit........box of tissues to hand)
Next appointment is April 1st............April Fools Day.....................lol :rotfl:

I think that would work great...but I have to be on the PC all day for my job. Sometimes I can switch the router off, so I dont stray onto the net, but most of the time i need the internet for work, which makes logging on here too tempting!!

wmf - "virtual baby friend - hurry up" - no pressure then JoJoB!:D :D - but we'll all be having a little looksee each day now to see if theres any news for us;)

mary - well - saying nothing and walking away. I've just "trained" myself to do it most of the time. I'm still working on doing it all the time - and telling myself "If its good enough for the Dalai Lama - then its good enough for me" - as one of his quotes is to that effect about it being best to say nothing sometimes (and he certainly has to exert huge amounts of willpower to remind himself of that one sometimes I'm sure!) and I have a double whammy reminder on that front myself from my (very very lapsed indeed) Quakerism - with the idea that one says nothing if there is nothing useful/otherwise worthwhile to say (cant remember the exact wording - but thats the gist of it). Anyways mary - glad to hear you describe the councillor as "lovely". Thats another positive step en route in the journey.

and there is a selection of ones from the Dalai Lama on these webpages. I rather liked them all - so havent selected any particular one.
