Have a good "visit!" wmf.
Me - I'm after the calming thoughts again today - playing my current fave inspirational song at a rate of knots. "one of those days" that we all get sometime. Reminding self - tomorrow is another day/tomorrow is another day.
Just going off to "write 50 lines" to myself or equivalent. Hmmmm......maybe thats a thought ....or perhaps I do an equivalent...ie play inspirational clip 12 times...might feel calmer by then. So if anyone has any calming thoughts to chuck into the mix today - do feel free.
<<wanders off muttering "It'll all be the same in 100 years time/tomorrow is another day/it'll all be the same in 100 years time/tomorrow is another day/detach/detach/detach">>0 -
Hi Ceridwen last June I started a thread, because I didn't know where else to post it, called The Transience of Living Things. It is a fab quote and I would love to be able to put a link or quote it here but I don't know how to do it. I would have posted it here if I had known about this thread then.Nothing is so fatiguing as the eternal hanging on of an uncompleted task. William James0

ceridwen - well this isn't exactly a calming thought but I reckon its quite a nice one:
" All that you are today is a clear product of what you thought about yesterday. Take good care of what you are thinking about now because that might just be your tomorrow."
Pour yourself a glass of the wet stuff (whatever your taste), sit back and listen to your favourite music then write a letter to yourself or an 'imaginary' friend saying just how you feel.......................your troubles will lift..........they will.........:A but you have to believe itMary

Hi
Ellidee - If you do find a way to post your "transience" thing on this thread - then it will be welcome. Its an appropriate thread for this. (says me - still feeling slightlty astonished at how popular this thread is....I look for it now by doing a quick scan for the threads with the highest number of "views").
mary43 - Beat you to it on that one - had a glass (or two!) of the "wet stuff" as you put it already. The diet starts in a couple of weeks when I've got this current "busy patch" over with and can focus on it a bit. Right now ....cheers!
I do appreciate my friends - including my "virtual friends" as Aril puts it.
I think its pretty good that we all have this thread that we can come to and swop ideas/give support/whatever as we want. I'm pleased I started it.0 -
We're all pleased you started it ceridwen - thankyou very much:j Done me a power of good and I'm learning (I think) how to prioritise things in my life a lot better.Mary

Transience of All Living Things
'Nature doesn't disdain what lives only for a day. It pours the whole of itself into each moment. We don't value the lily less for not being made of flint and built to last. Life's bounty is in it's flow, later is too late. Where is the song when it's been sung ? The dance when it's been danced ? It's only we humans who want to own the future too '

I must search out one about The Nightingale's song and frost at Midnight, two of my all time favourite poems. I often quote the last one on special cards.Blackadder: Am I jumping the gun, Baldrick, or are the words 'I have a cunning plan' marching with ill-deserved confidence in the direction of this conversation?
Still lurking around with a hope of some salvation:cool:0 -

Like that one Ellidee.
Its true actually that nature (Gaia) doesnt "count the cost" in creating beautiful scenes in nature from her "artists palette". A flower lasts for just a few days - but Gaia creates it anyway - without stopping to think "what practical purpose does it serve?". Beauty is just freely created anyway.
In some ways - we dont need paintings - as there are waterfalls and rainbows and babbling streams and fields of wildflowers. Who can better them? It is a beautiful planet that we have for our home - it behoves us to look after it and appreciate our good fortune in having such a beautiful "home" to live on. Many of the other planets are so barren - but we have this one with all its beauty.0 -
You can't beat the flowers growing randomly by the roadsides...........the colours somehow all tone as if they were carefuly chosen. Nature truly is a wonderful thing
Though I'm not too happy with it at the moment.............gale force winds are blowing my trees all over the place:mad:Mary
