ceridwen- sorry to hear today nots been at its best for you. We all need reminding, even on good days, that the simplest things in life are the best.
There are a lot of videos on that site............best of luck if you're going through them all.....................I was on the verge of trying the one about the ripples then held back for another time.Mary
I'm creative -you can't expect me to be neat too !

Ceridwen....I've just been searching for a quote for you, but can't find it, can't remember it properly, but it's something about "whatever our troubles" and the power of love to heal/help.....ooooooh , I wish I could find it for you!
anyway, as I can't find it, I'm just sending you some (((((hugs))))) and the wish that your bad day gets better for you and that tomorrow is better still.
cheers

:grouphug: ceridwen just wanted to send you a dodgy hug. Would it help to post about your bad day as we are all here to listen & help if we can. X ElNothing is so fatiguing as the eternal hanging on of an uncompleted task. William James0

Thank you so much whoever posted the down to earth blogspot. I have been reading through the archives tonight and they are wonderful. How to find peace and contentment in the mundane.
http://down---to---earth.blogspot.com/search/label/Simple%20Living?updated-max=2007-12-23T04%3A59%3A00%2B10%3A00&max-results=20
I came onto the list here tonight and everyone is echoing what I have been reading there, about having peace and simplicity now, not in five years' time. I had a conversation today with someone I have only ever met once before. She's lived in several different countries and, without any prompting from me, she was also talking about how she hates going in American supermarkets because there is too much choice. Apparently it is so overwhelming it blows your commonsense away and makes you long for the little shops here in England where you can ask for just as much as you want and choice is limited.
I once read that if you get the same message from three different sources, the universe is trying to tell you something. Three sources on the same day? It must be yelling at me.
I hope you feel better tomorrow Ceridwen. Your thread has made such a difference to us all.0 -
Hello virtual friends:j
A longer quote today which I hope may bring some solace to those of you who have had a rotten day
Believe in Yourself
Believe that you have the destiny to become all you expect of life. Experience all of life's peaks and plateaus. Find the meaning of life's struggles and accomplishments. There you will find the meaning of life and life's work.
Trust in your deeply hidden feelings because they show the person that you are. Take hold of each opportunity and make the most of it. Know the person that you are. The needs that your life contains....
Search deeply to capture the essence of life. Find your limitations and build upon them. Create within yourself a person who is strong and capable of withstanding pain. Know that life will offer some disappointments but remember,
through those situations you become a stronger, more stable person.
Don't overlook obstacles, but work through them.
Remember that each road you choose will offer some difficulty. If life were meant to be easy there would be no challenges and no rainbows.

I have this stuck on the inside of my magic cupboard [this is my bedside cabinet that has all my Druid treasures in] along with a birthday card from my friend Jo that reads "it's easier to tell you're getting older by how weird your friends are" ...this never fails to raise a smile if I've had a bad day and is so true in my case...my friends are generally as mad as a box of frogs:D

Thank you Charis. Down to Earth is my blog. I've been living simply for a few years now with my husband, chickens, fish, worms, dogs and cat. I have to tell you that living like this is quite difficult at time. Gone are the days of convenience foods, a house cleaner and recreational shopping but they've been replaced by healthy home grown organic food and just the right amount of work to keep us healthy and eager for each new day.
It took me a while to get used to living as we do and I had to relearn or learn from scratch much of what we do, but there are a lot of rewards in it. I feel like I'm in control of my life and no matter what happens, we will thrive. The more we do for ourselves, the more confident we feel about our future.0 -
I have made a start at a simpler life. I sold my car yesterday. Hubby still has one but we are trying to limit its use a bit.
We are also selling our house and downsizing when we get a buyer so hubby can get a part-time job he enjoys rather than working all hours and being too tired for family life. The best bargains are priceless!!!!!!!!!! :T :T :T0 -
I quickly realised when I started living more simply, that just about everything I did that was 'green', natural, simple or old-fashioned saved me money. It's the over processing for a consumerist market that adds up to the big amounts we pay at the shops. The simpler food is, the cheaper it is. If you can grow some organic food in your backyard or on an allotment, that is the best food of all - and the cheapest.
Cleaning is another area you can save a lot of money in. Using old style cleaners such as bicarb and vinegar, or just plain old hot water and soap, clean really well, don't bring unnecessary chemicals into your home and save you money.
Stockpiling your groceries will save you cash and time. When you get your cupboard set up, you'll shop once a month and have a pantry cupboard filled with groceries that you've bought on special. It will be like having a little supermarket in your own kitchen, open 24/7.
Mending clothes instead of throwing them out will save you money as well. How many times have you thrown something away that just had a small rip in it, or a missing button? I know I used to do that.
Knitting your own dishcloths, sewing fabric napkins, making tablecloths and tea towels, not only gives you exactly what you want, but it also saves money. Knitted dishcloths last for a long, long time and if you have a stash of them you won't have to buy dishcloths any more, and keep throwing them out.
Baking bread, biscuits or cakes will give you healthier food and cut down a lot of the amount of preservatives you eat, it also saves money. Cooking from scratch will give you tastier food, and again, far less preservatives and artificial flavourings. And, you guessed it, saves you money.
I could go on forever but I'm sure you get the picture. Are you caught up in the over-processed, over-priced store-bought goods we are urged to buy, or have you changed? I'd be interested in reading how you have simplified your life and saved money doing it.0 -
