  • I've just had a look at greatday.com for myself and it is very calming and inspirational. Although, whilst viewing the "goodness of life" presentation I was distracted by the view from my own window, that of 2 blackbirds puffed up against the cold, strolling around my frosty garden and munching on the leftover bread I put out yesterday. I feel set up for the day now!

    Thanks for the wonderful links!
Groatie Queen - I am off to start day one of my nine!! I wonder if I will also feel I am shedding 'stuff' other than objects. Quite a scary thought but I feel this will be a good one to do

I have been hypnotised by you lot. I can't believe it that I offered five items on freecycle this morning, these items had taken up so much space in my garage that I could not go in the garage without proper planning. I am really enjoying this thread so much that it feels like I know some of you personally. Ceridwen, are you sure you are not Paul/Paula the hypnotist?

Reading the most recent posts (yes, I am addicted) it strikes me that many of us who post here have lots of books, watch our weight and love spiritual quotations. Do you think we're all part of the same tribe, descended from the first woman who cleared out her cave to give her mind some space?

yes I believe we are Lilac Lady!

I consider myself very fortunate to live in this time - I've often thought how it would have been to live when women were considered not worth educating - no books  ...
I'd probably have got a lot more work done though .... :D

My son called yesterday and took a huge pile of computer books away, also 3 laptop bags  and several cook books. He runs an IT team (incl. a couple of gap year students) and will take it all into the office for grabsies. I'm weeding out my bookshelves again today so now starting on the next pile of books for him :D

He also said he'll offer out the 2 bbqs from my garage so with any luck they'll be gone soon! We used to bbq often before my dd, dsil and dgd emigrated, but my ds and I cant be bothered with all the faff just for us 2! ;)
... don't throw the string away. You always need string! :D

Who knows lilac lady...........we could well be.................lol
I don't have the weight problem though.......luckily I seem to stay much the same........just moved around a bit as I've got older...........lol
The only weight problem at the minute is all the 'stuff' I really need to shift.
Still, I've made starts here and there .........very much one step at a time and for me they're quite slow ones.............lol
Not done anything in that line today...............went shopping instead. One or two bits I needed for doing grandchildrens Easter sweet boxes, card to re-do mums Mothers Day card (it all went a bit wrong when I did it the other day !), photocopying the old photos of Mum and her Mother - again, for said card ! Then I drifted into the charity shops and picked up a couple of bits for my christmas/birthday baskets that were too good to leave behind........pick and mix from woolworths that ended up all over the floor of the taxi coming home.............than (having left my brain behind when I went out) I checked my list and I'd forgotten two shops altogether and another two I went in I came out without stuff I wanted.................lol Oh dear me...........maybe its too much sunshine ???
Never mind...........all is not lost and I had a card on the mat when I got back........parcel for me to collect from the post office so I have to venture out again tomorrow anyway !
Another morning gone but maybe I just might remember the bits I forgot, although no de-cluttering will get done I know...................never does.......once the days been broken up like that it throws me completely.
Plus the amount of 'stuff' around at the minute...........i.e.2 sweet boxes waiting to be filled and finished off, 3 empty wine bottles that need filling with cheap bubble bath (more cheapo pressies for someone) sort of gets in the way.............but once I've sorted all that out (ummmm when I wonder ?)
I might be able to have a fresh start:T

:rotfl: :rotfl: now theres a thought.....isnt it actually the case that everyone is supposed to be descended from literally a handful of women...perhaps we ARE all descended from the same woman!!:D

Retirement ???? What's that ? and what do you do with it ?????.........

Well, my afternoon went pear shaped (as per normal lately)........found some history stuff about where I was born, ploughing through that and getting on fine.............knock on the door.............our ex foster lads girlfriend with folder in hand and a great need to phone benefits office/council etc...........not enough time to sort everything out so she's coming up again tomorrow to go right through it all and see how they can clear their debts.
And there was me planning to have yet another attempt at mums Mothers Day card ...............oh well................time best spent given to someone else I think. I'll run (well not literally) down town and collect my parcel and do the bits I forgot today beforehand............as for the sweet boxes for grandchildren that are still empty ? Well, Easter's not yet a while so they can wait. In fact looks like a lot of things will be on the 'waiting list'..............lol
Never mind....................best laid plans of mice and women............(have I got that right ?)

mary43 - re your comment about having forgotten to get things whilst in town - I know the feeling about having "left my brain behind". So - my mini-organisational tip here is that I always/but always have a list in my handbag of things to buy and/or do when in town and every time I am in town I rewrite out that list in advance in order of shops etc I will visit and even go as far as writing out things per shop in order according to the layout of the shop (eg newspapers are right at the entrance of the shop - so that goes first on the bit of my list dedicated to visiting that particular shop).

I dont believe in cluttering my mind up with details like that - and, with this, it is kept clear for other stuff - and I rarely forget things.
