Hello everyone, my wife and I are due to holiday in Cyprus for a number of weeks this spring.
we are organising our own flights and accommodation, car etc.
I’ve had quotes from the usual travel Insurance coys but because of my wife’s medical history they have all been exorbitantly expensive.
So I am looking for insurance excluding medical cover. That itsto cover cancelled flights, lost luggage etc but I cannot find a company which offers this option.

Do you have travel insurance as part of a bank account? I would check what their t&c are in relation to pre-existing conditions as a first step.

Insurance on flights is only for outward flights, very few bags are actually lost, most are delayed. If you are not wanting insurance for medical instances then I don’t really see the need for it at all.1

Flights being cancelled will require the airlines to make alternative arrangements for you (and perhaps pay compensation too) under UK/EU 261 regulations, and likewise they'll generally pay for essential items if luggage is lost or delayed, so as above the actual benefit of any such policy (if it exists) seems low, especially relative to the risks you're already accepting by ignoring the big ticket medical cover, and also by booking DIY rather than assembling the components as a package.0

Thanks all.We are too old for bank insurance and on balance, thanks to your input, I have decided to accept the risk and go insurance free.0

We once went away with health issues and the other person got really ill (unrelated to health issues) and we had to go to the emergency hospital. There was no option, we had to go.
Thankfully insured as the bill was over $20k!
You have no idea what can happen and insurance covers so many things.
I have lots of health issues (over 5) and am on the strongest painkillers in the country, and I can get travel insurance cheap enough even with them.
Just use comparison sites.
I got with Admiral via a comparison site.
Also some companies let you declare but choose NOT cover the health issues. There are a few that do that.

How much is the insurance quote, and is it enough for you to take the risk that nobody is taken sick or sustains an injury on holiday. My wife tripped on holiday (stone cold sober) and face planted on the pavement. She was very fortunate that I managed to grab the back of her clothes as she went down so she was more shaken up than hurt. Following day we saw a lady who clearly hadn't be so fortunate. She had 2 black eyes, both very swollen, split lips and bruising all over her arms. That would certainly have been a hospital visit. Please think very carefully before travelling uninsured.0

As many have said - don't take the risk.Maybe one of you ends up in hospital - who pays?Broken leg - special transport home - who pays?etcMaybe read this ... https://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/discussion/6432833/pre-existing-conditions-travel-insurance/p1

have you checked if an annual policy is actually more affordable? I was surprised that there was very little difference to be covered for a full year vs less than 2 weeks.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on Debt Free Wannabe, Old Style Money Saving and Pensions boards.
