It clearly says audio transcription so the service is not as described.

You would stand a good chance of winning if you went to small claims. Also Paypal should refund as you did not receive what you paid for.

Does he have any social media presence - if do make a fuss about the way he treats deaf people.

A transcript is provided but it is available on a separate link which is shown on top of the original screen.
What the OP needs is subtitles  on each screen, which is not the same as a transcript.
If the OP had viewed the demo video he would have seen that.

If the OP wasnt deaf then he would have been able to view the demo video..... any guesses why I didnt? It clearly shows transcripts of audio on the advert and that is good enough for me.

I've just had a quick look at the demo video and it does indeed provide transcripts. Seems you want subtitles which it was never advertised as having?

Unfortunately , you mistook what a transcript is. It is a separate record of what was recorded, but does not appear on the screen at the  same time.
Subtitles appear on the screen at the same time as the recording. They did not offer subtitles.

How condescending...  anyone would think I was new to this..... Im 53 and have been deaf all my life. NO I didn't mistake what a transcript is... I have studied many videos that have transcripts that can be read (even from a bit of paper which is how I got through University). This course has a small text box that cannot be read with the video playing or even copy and pasted to a document to read along.

Besides the point my question was on the money back offer and you are focused on the part problem that I had.

Another point is that half the videos in the course do not have that transcript box.... yes I checked.

Thank you for the support...  I think a few words on social media might be in order especially if they make it any harder.
The sales page says money back if not satisfied within 10 days... so not sure why they are stringing it out.
  • Hello sheramber

The company is "Caan Berry" if you go to the video pack course on his dotcom you will see the same as I did when I purchased and the guarantee.

I paid using my debit card through PayPal

Looks like the kind of company I wouldn't touch with a barge pole to be honest. The money back guarantee doesn't actually seem to mention any specific terms or conditions - do you have anything on your order which tells you about it? The box on the website says virtually nothing. I suspect its worthless if the company aren't willing to honour it.

You can raise a dispute with Paypal, I suspect they will tell you that you received what you paid for though.

Are you prepared to take it to court for such a low value?
I agree with you now. The only reason I trusted the site was because it continuously gets good reviews on another site Im a member of and I fancied learning how to trade as its transferable to other trading things like the stock exchange.

I did get sucked in by the money back guarantee :(
I figured that if the videos didnt have transcripts available then at least I could get my money back. I was actually upset with myself when I found that half the videos didnt even have the text box and that what they claim is transcripts was actually a small text box that cant be c&ped to a document to read along and when its open the video cannot be viewed.

  • I was juts wondering if you potentially have a claim under the Equality Act?  If you have purchased the product because you are deaf and they have stated they offer a transcript and then didn't you may have a stronger case.  Maybe a chat with citizens advice would be worthwhile? Just a thought
Thats actually not a bad idea.... not one for screaming about my disability usually but this has just been made harder than it needed to be. Thank you for your support.
  • thank you for the long explanation.....  there were no terms and conditions with the course. The sales page is all you get before you enter the course page on the same site.

Your third point is something I forgot too. I did email them and say they can't have it both ways, either give me my refund or reinstate my access to the course.
