Any paint roller seems unusable after 20 minutes!

A friend of mine used a spinner to clean the sleeves. It's a lot quicker.
I read your post a little late since having run out of ceiling paint I just washed the roller in the sink. Pretty amazing how much paint came out of it - maybe I should just have gone for a shorter pile. I’ll try that next time…

Trick with rollers is choose the correct one and reload little and often, rolling on the ribs of the tray to even out the paint on the roller.
If I need rollers or brushes next day I wrap them in clingfilm.

Many years ago I did some part time holiday work for a decorating company. We were doing the painting on a block of council houses. Near the end of the day all the painters bought me their rollers and told me to wash them out. I spent probably an hour washing a dozen sleeves out in cold water in the middle of winter and was soaked and freezing.
The next morning I got in and the painters were already working, and there was my pile of nicely washed rollers where I had left them. The boss came over and said 'oh by the way, we chuck them out at the end of the day and use fresh ones as we only pay a quid for them' !!

Just load them up only a little, the bag um. Should be ok to use in 4 weeks.
Your just washing paint away, and if you don’t use enough water you’ll end up blocking the trap.2 -
My father in law uses a ruler to scrap the roller over the tin, loads of paint comes out and can be reused. Then he washes the roller.3

There is a tool you can get for a couple a quid specially designed for this.
For around £20 you can get a spinner from Brewers that will clean the roller sleeve in a couple of minutes.1 -
I scrape the paint out then put them in a bucket of water for an hour or three.
Most of the paint seeps out and dilutes so easily washed out under a fast flowing tap.I can rise and shine - just not at the same time!

I just clean rollers the same way as brushes. Rinse thoroughly with water and dry naturally.
Always seem to be ok to reuse.
Good idea about bagging it if using again the next day.0 -
