Think we will see comparisons back from July onwards as prices fall according to Martin Lewis.

At the moment most everyone* is only offering standard tariff for regular home energy so there is no comparison to be made because they are all the same.
That's not the case for Economy 7, different suppliers all have different day/night rates.
Yes, although many do have E7 if they have electric heating, many do have gas heating and so I wasn't counting E7 as 'regular'

The majority - c.70%, maybe more (I forget the stats) - have gas, yes, although a decent number of people use E7 to charge batteries even if they have gas.  But E7 is the main variation of the electric SVT and probably the largest section of the market who can potentially save by shopping around even with the EPG in place.

But the OP said in a later post that he is on E& and that is why he is asking.

There are no varying prices, the prices for the SVT is the same for all energy suppliers as except for OVO nobody offers fixed tariffs, only SVT.

Only exception are E7 tariffs which are very different depending on suppliers,
There are some other specialist tariffs, EV tariffs, and the rest are pretty much Octopus' various ones.  Octopus' smart tariffs are virtually impossible to get an accurate quote for though, you have to try and work it out yourself really.
I am actually with Octopus Energy, and they have offered the tracker tariff possible. I heard that this is just a gamble and may not necessarily be cheaper than the standard variable tariff.
It's not really a gamble, because the you can switch from Tracker back to SVT in a day or so simple by emailing or tweeting them. However this requires you to be proactive and monitor the unit prices on a daily basis, which may or may not be suitable for you.
I was lucky enough to bag one of the earlier Tracker rates, and it has given me a significant saving over SVT under the EPG. The newer rates are less discounted.
No free lunch, and no free laptop ;)
