Is there a quicker way to compare energy prices at the moment?

Prior to the cost of living crisis, how do you choose the MSA energy comparison tool to compare energy providers to get the best price?

But now it seems this is not possible, and even of a comparison sites like uswitch don't provide this

as there are many energy companies available with each one varying in the rates, depending on postcode, does anyone know of an easier way to compare?

There are no varying prices, the prices for the SVT is the same for all energy suppliers as except for OVO nobody offers fixed tariffs, only SVT.

Only exception are E7 tariffs which are very different depending on suppliers,

Apologies for the grammatical mistakes, as I am reliant on voice dictation to enter text and I can't see an option to edit my post, maybe because I am a new member

I think the OP is correct - they are too new for the edit option to be available to them.

Welcome to the boards pw23 -  I think it's likely that we will start to see the comparison sites becoming more useful again before too much longer as fixes start to reappear.

    Hi,

Not for new users, one has to have been a member for a minimum time period and number of posts before additional features such as the ability to edit posts, post images, post links etc. are enabled.

There are some other specialist tariffs, EV tariffs, and the rest are pretty much Octopus' various ones.  Octopus' smart tariffs are virtually impossible to get an accurate quote for though, you have to try and work it out yourself really.

I should have said that I am on a E7, so how would I go about comparing the tariffs? Is there a quick and simple way, like with the old MSA energy saving club?

I am actually with Octopus Energy, and they have offered the tracker tariff possible. I heard that this is just a gamble and may not necessarily be cheaper than the standard variable tariff.

At the moment most everyone* is only offering standard tariff for regular home energy so there is no comparison to be made because they are all the same.
*OVO have just this week offered a new Fixed Rate tariff lower than the current standard rate, but the general advice is that there will be more fixed rates coming from other suppliers soon and they will be lower, so you have to be careful not to jump too early.
Personally I'd say not before June at the earliest.

That's not the case for Economy 7, different suppliers all have different day/night rates.
