HMRC unable to unlock access to NI record info - help!

My partner is trying to access his NI records to check for missing years and hopefully plug the gap.
However he has hit a wall with HMRC - his details don't match on their system and he cannot log in. He was asked to send his passport info to verify his details and unlock the account, however even this hasn't worked and yesterday an HMRC advisor told him they didn't know what to suggest! Any suggestions very gratefully received!

I'd make a formal complaint - not least to ensure his attempts to access his record are known and logged, especially if he is trying to access this information to assess whether or not to pay for 'missing years'. I suggest you do so in writing, by signed for delivery: https://www.gov.uk/complain-about-hmrcGoogling on your question might have been both quicker and easier, if you're only after simple facts rather than opinions!1

Also it could be worth highlighting to your MPIt's just my opinion and not advice.1

They should be able to tell him what the incorrect details they have are, and he can apply to have the data corrected. If they are saying they can't correct the data, then they aren't trying hard enough. The comments I post are my personal opinion. While I try to check everything is correct before posting, I can and do make mistakes, so always try to check official information sources before relying on my posts.0
