Hi muppeteer - It is always difficult for those who lose loved ones - and when it happens around Christmas it is even more difficult to come to terms with.
My thought go out to you, and others in the same situation - I find myself drawn to Stormybay's thread, where many people in your situation can derive some comfort in sharing their experiences.
I am pleased to see that you are feeling a bit better today and wish you well.
I am NOT, nor do I profess to be, a Qualified Debt Adviser. I have made MANY mistakes and have OFTEN been the unwitting victim of the the shamefull tactics of the Financial Industry.
If any of my experiences, or the knowledge that I have gained from those experiences, can help anyone who finds themselves in similar circumstances, then my experiences have not been in vain.

I'm so glad I found the DFW thread. Everyone here is so lovely and supportive, and not just about money worries. It has helped me so much to have someplace to come to where I can rant or tell you all how sorry I feel for myself without fear of hurting anyone close to me or being judged by anyone.

And Batgatebuyer, glad I've made someone feel better.:rotfl:

  • I have no family except the family my husband and I created (4 children aged 17,15,12 & 8) my adoptive parents died within 10 months of each other 4 years ago. We have no close friends and hardly go out.

My husband's family fell out with him over 22 years ago 'cause they didn't like it when he split with his ex wife, they have always treated her as a daughter to date.

Christmas in our house is sunday dinner with presents.:rudolf: I hate Christmas

Mupeteer, number one - don't watch depressing progs on the tele. How does it help the poor people the prog is about - it doesn't. Give a couple of quid to a charity and let yourself watch a comedy. It is better for them and for you.

As a Christmas present let yourself do what makes you happy. If you feel there are people you have to see and spend time with - balance that with something absolutely for you. You are allowed to have some happiness.

Hi Muppeteer, hope you are feeling ok today. I get the Christmas blues, and miss the people who can't be here to share Christmas with me :( so this Xmas I have tried to watch as many Xmas movies as poss and not get too stressed. I agree with moanymoany, try not to watch anything that's got the potential to be depressing, just go for the good stuff! Hope you have a good Christmas.

I went to the cemetery today and, to make sure I didn't sit on the grass, sobbing my heart out, I put mascara on first and made sure I had some shopping to do afterwards. The thought of going round the supermarket looking like Alice Cooper was enough to keep me strong!:rotfl: I almost lost it but stayed tearless in the end. I left her some lovely yellow roses and spoke a little, but I don't need to go to the cemetery for that - I talk to her all the time.
