Supermarkets Mislabelling of Food Prices

This relates mostly to Lidl but also to Aldi, as that is where I do most, if not all shopping these days.
With food prices rising weekly, I am finding that these supermarkets are not displaying accurate prices for groceries.
It seems that every week there are issues with my receipt, and I either have to suck it up and accept being overcharged or take it up with the cashier and then wait while they investigate and process a refund, holding up the queue.
Recent examples include things like:
Lidl
MInced Beef 20% fat 500g, display price £1.99, actual price £2.20
Wine Gums, display price 59p, actual price £0.69p
Mint Assortment, display price, 65p, actual price £0.85p
Loose banana's, display price 0.79p per kg, actual price 0.90p per kg
Aldi
MInced Beef 20% fat 500g, advertised at £2.19, actual price £2.49
In some cases these incorrect prices have been left on display for several weeks.
What also strikes me is that cashiers ask 'would you like your receipt' and for the most part people ahead of me tend to say no.
This gives cart blanche to supermarkets to just charge whatever they like, customers be damned.
I have complained to both supermarkets about this. Lidl said they'd take it up with the store. Didn't hear back from Aldi.
It happens so often now I sometimes don't even bother taking it up with the cashier. Surely that can't be right.

I'm sorry to say you're on a hiding to nothing with this one. Been there, done that.
Imo it's at least false advertising and I always point it out. I've had every response under the sun from "oh sorry! let me sort that out for you" to "Can't you see we're understaffed!! It's only 20p!! WHY ARE YOU MAKING SUCH A BIG DEAL??!!"
If I've lifted the right thing and the label says a price, that's all I'm paying or you're having it back. I always apologise to the queue that inevitably builds up, but I've never once let it go.
When I've spoken about it on here I've always been in the minority. I wonder if attitudes have changed now there's a cost of living crisis....As I suspected, somebody has been adding soil to my garden. The plot thickens...4 -

I wonder if attitudes have changed now there's a cost of living crisis....Wow, & wow again, just wanting the price charged to be the same as displayed is being petty? No longer happens, of course, but Asda used to give a £2 voucher for a wrongly priced item as well as money back. It certainly wasn't petty queuing at CS for one of thoseEight out of ten owners who expressed a preference said their cats preferred other peoples gardens6 -
It isn’t petty. It’s having principles, and not accepting poor standards. Unprofessionalism will increase and standards lower as long as people don’t call it out.If you were behind me in the queue and offered me the 20p, I’d thank you for the offer then refuse it. It isn’t your mistake to rectify. As I suspected, somebody has been adding soil to my garden. The plot thickens...7

It has always been an issue, in every supermarket I've shopped in.
Before the current level of inflation kicked in, I often had examples both ways (some products scanned at a lower price than the shelf price) so I am convinced they are genuine errors rather than deliberate fraud. But either way, it's illegal and you are right to call it out.1 -
I've said this before on here - years ago I used to work in Tesco. Every morning before the store opened the computer downloaded that days price changes, the labels were printed off, and a handful of minions were dispatched to change the shelf edge labels. The till system was updated so everything matched. Every. Single. Day.
Professionalism. There's a great lack of it now.As I suspected, somebody has been adding soil to my garden. The plot thickens...4 -
Occasional mistakes will happen, and that's fine. But it seems to me that with the constant drip drip of increases, these mistakes are becoming frequent. It's bad enough that staples, especially those in the cheaper brand categories, are increasing way beyond the claimed 11% inflation rate (over 100% in some cases) without also being regularly misled on the actual prices as well.

To be honest, although I do get a receipt I haven't checked the shelf prices tally. I will tomorrow when I do my weekly shop!
In defence of Aldi (and other supermarket workers) they have had to change the price tags on so many items lately that it's probably really difficult to keep up.
That being said, I have noticed the shelf prices in Aldi are now in a different format. They look sort of digital compared with the paper ones. Anyone know if they can be changed more easily than manually replacing each price tag? 🤔0 -
My local Aldi now only gives you a receipt if you ask for one.
Today, I remembered to ask and just as well I did. The cashier had overscanned an item so overcharged me. I got her to refund me before I left the store. She overscanned the last time I was in too but voided the item on that receipt.
With the cashier speedily throwing the items at you, they are bound to make mistakes.
Everything is too expensive to be overcharged as well .
My advice is always insist on a receipt and check it before you leave the store.3 -
I tend to use the new, large self scanner these days in Aldi which always gives a receipt.1
