Part exchange/builders requesting water account

We’re in the process of part exchanging our current home. Our solicitor have emailed asking for our water account as a request from the builder. Is this needed? What else should we expect to hand over, gas/electric accounts?

Perhaps. They'll be trying to cover all possible enquiries from buyers. Is it a problem? Does your solicitor think it's odd?1

Solicitor have never come across the request before…….
It isn’t a problem really. I just find it strange as you move property so does your accounts. 🤷🏼♀️0 -
You can always ask why they want to know. Or, just send it.My guess is that it is as User says. Possibly, a part exchange sale was held up in the past because they didn’t have the water bill, so they have put it on the list of things they ask for every time now.No reliance should be placed on the above! Absolutely none, do you hear?1

It's hardly unknown for buyers to ask "what are your bills like". Which obviously the builders wouldn't be able to answer without you telling them. And maybe it makes transferring the accounts easier if you have the details.1

Potentially your drainage search or local authority search has you down as not being connected to mains water.SqueakyPants said:We’re in the process of part exchanging our current home. Ours came back saying this and the water bill shows the buyer that you are in fact recieving mains water.1 -
We’re in the process of doing the same. Haven’t had to provide water account details but they did want an EPC, gas and electric safety certificate which we’ve had to pull out for. Also had to fork out for a new fuse box which was apparently working fine and wouldn’t cause issues but he couldn’t sign it off as there was static in it. Feel like I’ve had the wool pulled over my eyes but they’ve given us a 45 day deadline to exchange from the point of reserving!SqueakyPants said:We’re in the process of part exchanging our current home. We’re feeling the same to be honest, very misled on the part ex process……..
We’ve provided the EPC, gas and electric safety certs however another 5 weeks down the line they’re now asking for more stuff like the water accounts, and insurance for decking we’ve installed. They already have a buyer for our house and have sold it for £12,000 more than they’ve given us. We’ve gone past out exchange deadline 🤦🏼♀️

If you have not exchanged, why don’t you sell it to the buyers direct? Split the £12k.SqueakyPants said:We’re feeling the same to be honest, very misled on the part ex process……..

Wouldn't surprise me if they are asking you to provide everything the buyers solicitor is asking them for.SqueakyPants said:We’re feeling the same to be honest, very misled on the part ex process……..

If they can get them to coincide quite closely then they won't be out of pocket for anything the buyer wants doing/needs.1 -
proves water to the property saves them £60 searchDon't put your trust into an Experian score - it is not a number any bank will ever use & it is generally a waste of money to purchase it. They are also selling you insurance you dont need.2
