Morrisons croissants disappearing act or a mistake?

Good afternoon
We online shop with Tesco since covide but twice a week top-up our shopping needs often via Morrisons
We all know food prices have and are rocketing
We are all aware that many times most companies will reduce the size of a packet of goods but the price is same or higher
Today as often th case Morrisons croissants the fresh baked one at 39p each. I'm not sure if their dough machine
was broken but the size of these has been reduced by at least 33% and my OH agreed. I often have two with lunch and a snack with two more at about 4pm. Ate
three of them and they looked like a baby portion
Has anyone else noted this, please? If it is a size reduction, that is not good as they should have kept the size the same and upped it to 50/60p
but I guess more people would have realised and avoid. I will get them from another outfit next time
Rant over.

I enjoy an occasional croissant but would struggle to eat more than one.diystarter7 said:I often have two with lunch and a snack with two more at about 4pm.
Two WITH lunch rather than AS lunch and then another two WITH a snack rather than AS a snack a few hours later strikes me as rather excessive consumption calory wise - perhaps it's a good job they're shrinking in size!
We don't have a Morrisons nearby so can't comment on their offerings.
My go-to choice for croissants is Lidls in-store bakery ones.6 -

The croissants in our local Lidl's are far bigger than those available in Morrisons.p00hsticks said:

Thnaks but to be clear, I'm not sure Lidls as never been there but at Morriosns the appear at the very least 33% smaller so not sure if machie playing up or saving money as the price is as has been for a few weeks ie 39 a shot.

Why not ask Morrisons?3

Tesco are also at it with certain products. Reduce the size and increase the price.e.g. their packs of four choc. chip cookies. The size has noticeably reduced gradually. That means they can also brag about reduced packaging too! Well that doesn't take much working out - reduce the product size = reduce the packaging.0

It is nothing new.
Chocolate bars are much smaller than they used to be.
M & M's family pack has disappeared in exchange for a much larger pack at a much larger price.
Waggon Wheels, Penguins, Jacob's Club biscuits and others are much smaller than they used to. be.
Price is very relevant.
Customers will avoid a product when the price rises but will continue to buy smaller for the same price.0 -
I can't comment on Jacob's Clubs or Penguins, but I seem to recall that Burtons, the makers of Wagon, Wheels, have consistently denied that they have shrunk over the years, and say that we just remember them as being bigger when we were young because our hands were smaller!sheramber said:Waggon Wheels, Penguins, Jacob's Club biscuits and others are much smaller than they used to. be.
Apparently they are thicker than they used to be but slightly smaller in diameter. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wagon_Wheels
There's a (very) long running thread over on the 'Groceries' board about the topic of 'shrinkflation' https://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/discussion/4765235/the-great-shrinking-food-and-other-items-hunt/12 -
With all the things you reply to, it's interesting to see what your own concerns are!
If you're eating 4 croissants a day with lunch and snacks, then I'm a bit worried about you!4
