Internet Speed????

Exactly my point, you are one of those putting up with it and accepting the status quo. When we get to the point where we are top of the league we will all get decent prices and speeds:oldernonethewiser said:
Nothing of that speed available to me but I cope.Deleted_User said:As usual the UK are behind the times with internet and the public are putting up with it.
I'm on 1 gb/s up/down for £22.50 per month with BRSK for 12 months then £45 for 12 months which works out as £33.75 for 2 years of 1 gig up / down - yes M1000 in Virgin terms or 1000 mbps for other providers - tell me if you can beat that?
Don't accept the poor internet we get in the UK, challenge it and leave your provider. Eveyone should get a 1 gig fibre to premise line by default.
I absolutely understand the people who say that FTTC 38mbps suits them but they are paying too much - that should be £1.28 per month in proportion to what I pay.
Unfortuinately it seems people are just surfing the bog basic product like the rubbish Shell broadband to save a couple of quid without looking at the bigger picture.
I urge people to demand and switch to fibre to premise and reap the benefits long term.
UK ranking is atrocious when it comes to internet speeds and price.

As fibre to the premises is not available how do you suggest I improve the situation and stop "putting up with it"?

One wishes such a service was available nationwide! That's how it should be rather than asymmetric fibre networks, overbuilds in certain areas and areas lacking full fibre altogether along with the mis-marketing of "fibre to the cabinet" as "superfast fibre" all these years.1 -

Virgin isn't FTTP.hareng said:Unless your watching tv in 4k you wont need above 38meg which is FTTC 1. Uses phone line from local cabinet and 'fibre' to the exchange.
Most FTTP (Fibre To The Premises) (means fibre all the way just like Virgin) start at 100meg and can be had for £25 upwards, but beware price in front of you very often changes substantially when click on provider ie TT, Vodaphone Gigaclear etc. I chose Octaplus 500meg £30 p/m on below link 7 weeks ago with Amazon Prime thats now £9 p/m (now discontinued) saving £5 p/m over BT FTTC2 and an unknown nowadays and thats superb customer service you will never get from any biggy.
This is known as the alternative network Virgin/O2 are in talks with to buy out.
Stick your postcode in here and see if FTTP is available https://cityfibre.com/If you intend leaving, give them their required notice, BT is a month.
Didnt say it was!

Contact companies rolling out fibre and express an interest - there are dozens of new companies doing this if you look beyond the MSE comparison site. My 1gig isn't on any comparison site at all for my address but I used some initiative.oldernonethewiser said:Deleted_User said:

Get all your neighbourhood together to contact alt fibre companies and see what they can do, there are loads at the moment awash with startup capital just waiting for customer in areas without fibre.
And stop with the race to the bottom looking for the cheapest openreach resellers that are not putting any investment back into the infrastructure.0 -

Fibre is being laid all over the place but currently no-one is offering it as a service, I have asked. My current speed is at the moment sufficient for my needs but I agree a better overall infrastructure would be an improvement for all.Things that are differerent: draw & drawer, brought & bought, loose & lose, dose & does, payed & paid1 -
For me the important factor is getting the cheapest price possible at minmium 38Mbps, if a much faster speed is more - no thabks, i want to decrease my monthly outgoing not increase it.
Who can offer £21.23 a month or less (not average over x months ) for more speed?0
