I said I don't want to have to keep arguing with them so I'd just like to book the engineer visit.
She started going through the questions and said that it sounded like it was jammed and for me to check if it was. I said I'd had a look and couldn't see anything but wasn't comfortable digging around in case I break it.
She said that's fine, but if the engineer comes and it's something I should have found, I could be charged for the visit!
What should I do? I'm tempted just to give it back to my dad and get a new one.0 -
You do not have 6 years of anything under CRA 2015. Complete nonsense. And yes, if Bosch come out and find it's either no fault found, or user error (i.e. blocked, dirty filters etc), you will be charged for the call out.
All vacuum cleaners block eventually, and it's usually a simple process to unblock them that the user is expected to be able to do, it'll be in the manual. Just follow the air path up from the cleaner head.No free lunch, and no free laptop0 -
@tanyasharma - if you are really confident either (i) that it is faulty or (ii) that it is not fit for purpose*, bring it back** to Argos and demonstrate to them that it does not function properly. Show them that it doesn't pick up correctly.
Then explain to them that you are exercising your rights under the Consumer Rights Act 2015 (legislation.gov.uk) as the cleaner does not conform to contract (ie it is either faulty or not fit for purpose). Make it clear to them that you are not making any warranty claim against Bosch, but that you are exercising your statutory consumer rights against Argos, and therefore Bosch play no part in this.
Argos then have the option to repair or to replace, but if they do so and it still doesn't work or it still isn't fit for purpose, then you are entitled to a full refund.
* Nobody here can confirm for you whether it's faulty or not fit for purpose. Only you and other people who have seen it working can make that judgment. If you want to pursue this further with Argos you will need to show to them that it doesn't work properly. Be prepared to demonstrate this instore and/or video it not working properly.
** If your dad bought it than technically speaking he's the person who needs to bring it back, or he will need to accompany you.0 -
Further to the post I just made:
1. What Bosch have told you about 6 years and Consumer rights is basically wrong. But if it's gone wrong (or is not fit for purpose) within 6 months of purchase, then it's up to Argos to prove it was ok whan you bought it
2. Do what others have suggested and check first to see it's not blocked. It's easy to do and you won't break it. The manual should explain what to check.0 -
I’ve had a Bosch vacuum cleaner for years. I have never had a problem with it. It was the top rated at Which at the time and the best vacuum cleaner I’ve ever had.
