Did the installer not have a U16 smart meter to fit or the parts needed to allow him to fit a standard domestic smart gas meter to the existing U16 meter supply?
Your idea that he would fit a smaller meter - can you just explain that, please?
No reliance should be placed on the above! Absolutely none, do you hear?

No - I can’t. I was just putting forward 2 possible reasons for the aborted visit. As you can see from the above article, U16 smart meters have only just become available as they are not the usual type of meter fitted in domestic situations.

Suppliers make their own procurement arrangements for smart meters. It is possible that SP has not placed a contract for U16 gas meters: you would have to raise this with them. Possibly, installers do not have the appropriate meter connection fittings. As you can see, the meters have different sized connections:

If you are moving home why do you want all this hassle, just leave it for next owner to deal with.
There’s a sort of fascination with how bad they are.

Yeah I can see the attraction to that, you get to a stage were you have
got to take your fun were you find it.

On the bright side the non installer has now been able to book two abortive visits and quickly move onto next job and if on template pay or bonus that will help boost earnings.

But don't dwell to much on bonus payments in the energy industry as it can be seen as heterodoxy to question them.

    Hi,
you were asked earlier for a picture of your meter, any chance, and why have you this type of meter fitted.
Was the meter fitter from SP or an installation company?

These people are just human beings, doing a job, trying to do their best, mistakes happen and people mess up.

It's a shame we have now reached the point where almost everything is about money.

I may have missed it, but at no point have I heard any expression of disappointment about the job not being completed, just a complaint about how to get monetary compensation.

I spoke with the engineer who fitted the smart meters here, they are treated appallingly and if the job doesn't go perfectly smoothly they pay the price.

I would cut them some slack.

l think you would be complaining a lot more if he fitted an undersized meter and it prevented your boiler etc. from working properly as it couldn't flow enough gas. You might then find they had disposed of the old meter leaving you with no gas supply in the middle of winter. Even if he had parts to be able to do it I wouldn't expect him to do it. It is not his job to specify gas supplies.

    Hi,

Was the meter fitter from SP or an installation company?

This all seems quite intrusive. What’s the relevance of this?

Perhaps we should have a separate thread for meter pictures? You go first.

    not intrusive, here's the relevance.
    Reason for meter picture:
A picture might help someone explain the difference between your meter and a standard meter, and the problems regarding fitting.
Reason for your type of meter.
It seems your type of meter is mostly used for commercial premises, so why do you have it, was property previously hotel/pub?
    Reason for fitter query.
You seem to be slagging SP when the problem may be with a meter installation company.
    Reason for no picture.
My meter is bog standard, so no picture.

Is any of it relevant to my question, which was answered on page 1 of this thread?  Thanks, once again, for the advice.
