Timely Reminder - Meter Tariffs Still on GMT - Adjustments Needed ?

I know many will adjust clocks and everything else.

So obvious to many, but remember many (all?)  E7 E10 style tariff meters with fixed time of use tariffs stick with GMT - so off peak slots for many (all?) have moved an hour overnight.

So you might need to adjust lifestyle e.g. off peak load shifting  usage patterns a bit.

Any other dependency you might have, like battery/ invertor charge times or modern  intelligent nsh with fixed charge times that might then run off of peak supply may also need adjusting.

TAPO plug schedule timings may need changing for those on E7 and similar!

From what I understand, Octopus Flux is independent of meter timings so it shouldn't matter on that tariff thankfully  :)

By fixed time of use meant really E7 and other older legacy ones E10, Whitemeter, E20:20 etc depending on region etc.

Posted, realky as have seen others quote one set of times, as if they were year round, so only had to set things once, or quoting the summer times for things listed in winter.

You would need smart tariff controls of devices on your flex rates  (which is how one of their EV tariffs wo1rks iirc).

Which is how some nsh heaters are moving as legacy tariffs disappear and even E7 fixed times no longer guaranteed to be lowest demand so price.

My E10 smart meter happily changes its own time gmt bst, or at least the IHD keepts its time, cannot remember looking on meter itself for years. But they keep the tariff switching to gmt.

Good call.   I need to adjust the tapo for the PHEV.

Apologies for slight hijack but a tangential question from me.
It appears the usage data in my Bright app is still based on GMT, rather than BST. I haven’t noticed this before as smart meters only installed end of September last year & I wasn’t so focussed.
    Will it correct itself?

I have a meter that records day/night usage on an E7 split, although I don't use enough at night so I got a tariff that charges the same all day, meaning the switchover time doesn't matter to me.

That said, the IHD still announces the switchover about an hour in advance, and I've said in another thread previously, that during BST it would switch to the day rate at 08:30, at least that's what it was doing at the end of October last year before the clocks went back.

This morning, stood in the kitchen at 07:45 BST, that the notification wasn't there, indicating it had already switched. The implication being my E7 times now follow DST.

I'm going to check the meter itself tomorrow, but given that smart meters can be re-configured remotely, if you have them I'd advise not assuming that what happened last year is what's happening now, and double check.

    Interesting @Raxiel

Still GMT  here  - bit easier on E10 as have a 1-4pm and 8-10pm off peak winter as well as 12midnight-5am  -  now 2-5, 9-11 and 1-6 summer.

So at 13:31, ihd showing 28 min to tariff switch.  So 2pm.

And on some suppliers websites for other legacy tariffs like edfs eco20:20 etc the hour shift is in the terms and conditions.

And a quick google of E7 shows many supplier site references to meters staying on GMT.

But as I understand it it is down to DNO not supplier, as they set regional time rules.

By the way my E10 meter is Smart, so that change, didn't impact my timings.

Not sure, but think the radio switch heatwise prior to digital E10 stayed GMT as well, but it's been years.

Well, I double checked and its definitely switching the active rate from R02 (night) to R01 (day) at 07:30 BST.
I know for certain it was 08:30 BST during October last year, because due to a previous register mix up that I won't go into here,  I was on the E7 tariff for about a month after they auto switched me to the E7 SVT following the EPG announcement. So I was very keen on making sure all the toaster and kettle usage etc for breakfast was done before it switched. Much easier at 08:30.

It's not unreasonable that it does this, the meters being connected means they can keep an accurate time, it's just weird that its happened this time, but not last year.

Perhaps the price spike meant that the revenue loss of allowing people half a year of cheap rate during the breakfast peak grew to be worth the effort of 'fixing'.

No, it won't because GMT is correct all year around as far as your E7 is concerned. It gets the info from the DCC so will reflect your relevant tariff times.

That's a real bummer. I'd be furious if I lost my later morning summer off peak rate.
