Hi Grumpy chap. Owner is having a new car this year and it will be a gift they have hinted they would like.
A new car this year and a "74" plate next year won't work.

The individual needs to wait to get the new car next year when they can also apply the plate.
To be clear, the new car has to be registered on or after 1st Sept 2024.

Since I assume the 74 is the important part, you can get an older style plate with a 74 in it: A74 BCD or similar, and dependant on the first letter will be able to go on anything newer than 2000ish.

There are probably plenty of even older style one available.

All the way up to Y which was 2001.

Note: I'm not suggesting he literally gets A74 BCD, which is already on a Ford, I'm suggesting a prefix plate that has 1 character, 1-3 numbers and then 3 characters, but figured ABCD would be easier to read. Maybe I should have gone for X74 XXX
