You don’t get a new V5C for 50% tax reduction. Just found out you have to claim it every year.elle_may said:
No you will get a new V5C with the tax displayed as disabled. Now you have to get a new certificate when you get a new viehcle. I have never had to cange the old tax. You’re only have to look after your new car. and give the V5C of your new car to post office who will send it to dvla.when you renew. As only one car can be used for free tax.sheilavw said:hi , slightly different. We get free road tax for my Brother. the vehicle was scrapped on monday. I have rung pip who will send out a new certificate of entitlement to take to the post office to get the free tax on the new vehicle. do i have to cancel the free tax on old vehicle? how do i do this? We have only ever had it on the one we have scrapped. I have looked but cannot seem to find any instructions
Yes indeed and it's been this way since PIP was introduced 10 years ago. The reason the taxation class doesn't change is because it's 50% reduction only.

No that's not what i meant, your new VC5 will have to be changed to disabled.as your new car may not be disabled registered. And yes you do have to apply every year, which is a pain.If you change your car anytime you have to get a new certificate off pip as it can only be stamped at post office with the new cars registration.Bex_123 said:

With 50% reduction the V5C taxation class doesn't change to disabled like it does with free road tax. Which is what Bex was referring to.elle_may said:
