Tesco mobile is powered by 02's network so you'll technically still be with the same provider. You may be as well just sticking it out until June though - it's only two months.
Having just looked at the Tesco site - I have a mobile with Tesco and am very happy with it but it's on a 24 month contract and it's the phone and not a sim card - re: sim cards, it seems that you can have a deal for as little as £7.50 per month but you can pay more, depending on how many GBs you use.
Is this the info you've been looking at? https://www.tescomobile.com/no-contract-sim
There's a lot of information in that link and it does seem very reasonable. If you need any more information, support or advice, you can contact them via webchat or social media or phone. I always find it good to actually talk to a 'proper' person whenever it's possible because they know what they're talking about and it can be a bit of a confusing minefield otherwise. (That could just be me, though!)

They're open until 9pm, they say.
Hope some of that is helpful. I'm also doing some research on the best way forward after my contract expires and am feeling a tad confused about it all. Please note - taken from the Forum Rules and amended for my own personal use (with thanks) : It is up to you to investigate, check, double-check and check yet again before you make any decisions or take any action based on any information you glean from any of my posts. As above, Tesco uses O2 so not much would change, in terms of coverage. I used Tesco for well over ten years and always happy enough with it. However, they, too, are now going down the inflation + more price increase every 12 months, having not done this previously. I was informed of this by email.
I don’t have an issue with it, as such, prices rise, but my phone usage is almost nothing, so I’ve switched away to a 30-day rolling provider, at less than half the cost I was paying Tesco. It’s enough for my needs.Tesco is a decent provider. Their sim-only deals are certainly better priced than O2’s sim-only deals, considering it’s uses the same network. In your shoes, Tesco would be top of my list for sim-only.
My take on the rocket packs was they appear a bit of a faff. They can auto renew, but unsure if you can attach a debit card to your account, or if you have to manually top-up and keep a credit balance (which is how I’m reading it).
Personally, I wouldn’t have an issue taking a 12/24 month contract with Tesco, provided the price was good at the start, because I have done both of these during the past ten plus years.Oh, Tesco charge for MMS. It’s only 10p, or so, but MMS is not included in the monthly allowances. Some providers include MMS in allowances. Useful if you send the occasional pic of something to someone and don’t use other messaging apps.1 -
Tesco use the O2 network.
I have been with Tesco for a number of years and just (yesterday) - prompted by the forthcoming price changes - agreed to a 24-month SIM ONLY contract with Tesco Mobile. It was the easiest and most straightforward thing for me to do.
Before committing to the Tesco deal, I checked the price comparison sites and both O2 and Virgin had slightly cheaper tariffs than I took with Tesco. This might depend on what type of tariff (how much data) you require but, for me, that is how it was. It is certainly worth checking the offers from O2 as they may be just as cheap as Tesco.0 -
With every one saying they are the same THEY ARE NOT I was on tesco sim only contract for years and hubby was on a 02 contract I would often get signal when he didnt. We even had O2 out for 36 hours once and my tesco sim was fine.at one time we had identical phones as well.
I changed to O2 to get volt benefits with Virgin media. Now my old house that had signal everywhete except for one worktop in Kitchen now has only enough signal upstairs for a text message.
Tesco customer service brilliant and O2 non existent.

We don't have exactly the same phones, but both me and my wife are on Tesco Mobile and sometimes I have a signal and she doesn't.
