My Energy Bill has nearly doubled today

I've jusy been informed by SoEnergy that my monthly bill will be increasing from £117 per month to £208 per month in April. A massive increase. There is a higher than normal electricity usage for last month but that's a bit of an anomaly not sure why it's happened but we did have a leak so that could be related. But aside from that our usage is much the same. I'm really shocked, was expecting an increase, but not this much. Is this happening to other people?

Have you been on a fix that has just run out ?
Or has there been a series of ||Estimated bills and SE has just caught up ?Never pay on an estimated bill. Always read and understand your bill0 -
What is you actual use over the past 12 months of energy.
Add it all up and multiple it by the current prices and divide by 12 and what price per month do you come up with.
This assumes no debt of the account.
Once you have done the calculations you can present these to your energy supplier (I suggest by email)0 -

If you plug those figures into here, and select your region, it should give you an idea of the direct debit required: https://www.moneysavingexpert.com/utilities/what-are-the-price-cap-unit-rates-/
£208 sounds about right, I'm afraid.0 -

Agree with the last 2 posters, I was a bit slow so have removed my last post.
Your usage figures tie in with the proposed Direct Debit.
£208 seems entirely reasonable especially as the electricity standing charge will likely be increasing for most customers on 1st April.

And just to be clear. your monthly bill has not gone from £117 > £208. Your monthly DD contribution towards you bill has gone up to that amount.9

Or has there been a series of ||Estimated bills and SE has just caught up ?Given that's only c240 kWh less than £2500 EPG TDCV on electric (at 34p = c£80) and 164 more on gas (@c10p = £16) - without knowing the region - that looks pretty much like c£2440 pa - or c£204 pm.If your in a more expensive region than average - more.0 -

£208 seems entirely reasonable especially as the electricity standing charge will likely be increasing for most customers on 1st April. And as he is very close to the EPG TDCV - rise in SC (7p SR electric, 1p gas) - will be almost completely cancelled by the corresponding drop in unit rates.(in as much as any one quarter represents a quarter of the total TDCV - more true on electric with gas though I suspect)Or put it another way - the EPG discounts on unit rates reflect the rise in standing charges. To keep the total "nominal" "average" DF DD at the headline £2500At least until July - if CI insight predictions are right - when their will be no EPG unit rates or discounts - only Ofgem rates.0
