Trip.com won't refund cancelled flight

Hi,
I have a flight to Faro unfortunately booked through Trip.com. I'm hoping to cancel it however Trip.com won't offer me a refund, they say due to the airlines policies.

Their site states: "Change and cancellation fees are charged according to the policies listed on the airlines website"

However when I check with Wizz Air they do offer customers cancelling flights a partial refund (with an admin fee). However they require the travel agent to make the cancellation.

Has anyone been in a similar situation and able to get a refund? Is there anything I can do to force the issue with Trip.com?

Any advice would be appreciated 🙏

You will need to check the T&C of Trip.com, not those of Wizz Air, as your contract is with Trip.com.  Trip.com may be refusing to refund because they believe they are unlikely to be refunded by Wizz Air.

how much was your flight ticket? it looks like the WizzAir fees are £65 per passenger per flight (or £85 per flight if within 14 days) and then there will be Trip.com's fees also

  • Thank you.
The terms basically say: "Different terms apply to different travel products, these will be made available to you during your booking process."

I've tried going back through the order process and their cancellation policy is more apparent on the desktop than mobile (how I ordered), although I can now see it.

The flight was £123 (inc. Luggage) so I would have expected some back (less the £65 fees).

I guess I can't do anything about it. Unless I could resell the ticket? As its possible to change the name and personal details...

    Thanks for your help.

baggage fees are usually non-refundable so it would be the cost of the one-way flight only less £65 less Trip fee
