Ouch...couldn't have happened 24 hours earlier, could it!
Hi EssexHebridean
On Monday 8th September the market auction we use to calculate your Agile Octopus rates (EPEX HH) isn’t running. Therefore, we’ll be using the same unit rates that applied the 24 hours before.
In detail, this means the half-hourly prices from 11pm the 7th of September to 11pm 8th September will also apply from 11pm 8th September to 11pm 9th September.
The process will be back to usual the following day, so around 4pm on Tuesday 9th September you’ll get new rates for the 24 hours ahead.🎉 MORTGAGE FREE (First time!) 30/09/2016 🎉 And now we go again…New mortgage taken 01/09/23 🏡

And the peak is quite peaky0

Worse, the peak pricing extends beyond the peak time0

You can't really advise people on the correct decision for themselves although I would say don't overthink it too much. I have a good idea of what I use and my patterns and know what I can shift. My Excel skills are rusty so I don't bother but my main clue is the average price I pay as it appears on my Octopus bill - currently on IOG.In my case I have an EV with a low annual mileage, so occasional plunge pricing can be awaited for and exploited in many instances, even if at times just a top up. The only issue with evening peak pricing is cooking, but I often eat quite late. If peak prices were excessive I'd even resort to using my vehicle's V2L for that so important cuppa, or even plugging in a microwave or portable induction hob, but that happened rarely when I was last on Agile. There is more installed and commissioned off-shore wind since last winter so I'm soon going to take the plunge and go back to Agile and see if it works for me again..1

Reddit post suggesting that Octopus are starting to enforce the 30-day rule on switching from Agile. Any forumites experiencing the same?
(Probably a good thing, imo)

Good. I had no idea that it was possible to keep switching between tariffs without penalty0

Tracker and the fixes being the exceptions??Telegraph Sam
There are also unknown unknowns - the one's we don't know we don't know0 -
It was inevitable as there were people out there that had scriped automatic switching depending on which tariff was likely to work out better for them on a particular day.Took the !!!!!! a bit.0

I admit to changing rapidly (within a few days) a couple of times near the beginning of the year, between Cosy and Agile. But I knew it was just for a short time and I also knew I'd be fine with it if they enforced their Ts&Cs and unswitched me at any point. I don't normally take the mick though so I didn't feel guilty.
Makes sense if they're starting to enforce it going into a season when we may be more likely to see more high pricing.0 -
