Octopus Agile

I’ve read on another site that others have been switching to Go and back within a day or two to avoid the the high agile rates but I’ve not tested this and I’m sure Octopus will put a stop to it if many are doing so but for now, from what others have said, it appears to work.northernstar007 said:can you jump straight back on agile when you leave (no 9 months waiting like tracker) and if so is it worth taking a fix then jumping back on agile in a week or so2 -
The difference between this year and last, if I recall it was a lot milder last January than this, and probably more windy. Lower temperatures are leading to higher demand on the system.

What do you mean "taking a fix? If you move to a fixed rate you're taking about at least a 12-month contract, unless you're prepared to pay an exit fee.northernstar007 said:can you jump straight back on agile when you leave (no 9 months waiting like tracker) and if so is it worth taking a fix then jumping back on agile in a week or so2kWp Solar PV - 10*200W Kioto, SMA Sunny Boy 2000HF, SSE facing, some shading in winter, 37° pitch, installed Jun-2011, inverter replaced Sep-2017 AND Feb-2022.0 -
In general, Octopus's fixed rate tariffs don't have exit fees.KevinG said:

They don't, but fixes are usually for some certainty vs the unknown direction of the SVT. Whereas if you plan to go back to Agile within a short time period then the SVT is already known and as they'll be back on Agile anyway by the time the SVT changes again, no need for protection against those fluctuations.QrizB said:

Be glad you’re last day is today there’s another “blip” in prices tomorrow.Chrysalis said:Newbie_John said:
Octopus likely will never get reading from your last day - as they're slow and 1 day behing, so not sure what will they offer - SVR? So if it's your last day today - don't worryChrysalis said:Wow I delayed the move to Lifestyle by 3 days and this is my award, what a last but one day, hopefully no glitches in my move. The bigger thing that stand outs to me is not that 4-7pm hits the cap, but rather we over 50p outside the peak hours.
How did your move go, I seen others reporting in here it went through without issues.Worried it will be lagged though as Bright app is still waiting for 2 days now. Also I was tired anyway when I seen the Agile rates for yesterday, so went bed and slept through most of the chaos pricing.
My final day today the 9th, looks more standard, higher off peak, but day rates more in line with averages.Reading tlcgrantham's reply, I see what you mean now, so I might get out of it I guess if Octopus bill it as SVR.Yep seen it.By the way does anyone know where Octopus record meter readings, lots of "usage" in bills and on site, but no readings, I took a final reading, but I want to be sure I got the right number and fits in with historical readings, looks like my bill only has gas readings, and no reference to electric readings at all, just usage. I want to send the reading, as there is complaints from people claiming they never receive final readings which blocks final bill.I found a view meter reading history page, but again its consumption not actual readings, looks like they dumbed this down for people but ended up removing important information.0 -

if the go through the offical routes via the site/app you "could" swap everyday0 -
Submitted the reading now, it shows the old one on the submit page (which I had no link to from my my account page, I had to google it). The old one was dated at time of my last bill, I used 153 kWh since then, a bit above my annual average, lots of boiler usage, and some occasional portable heater usage.Octopus currently doesnt show any indication my electric ended, just says they got an issue reading meter.0

The actual terms state you have to wait 30 days between switching smart tariffs. So people can choose to chance it, but they can't complain if Octopus were to enforce that. Although if I'm understanding the wording correctly, that doesn't preclude going off Agile onto SVT in under 30days of switching back onto Agile from another smart tariff.northernstar007 said:

You can check the reading at the date of your previous bill by going to “meter reading history” in the app - it sits just below the gas details for me on my iPad.We have full flasks which will mean no kettle needed for coffee for MrEH later, and just a short reboil on water for tea. WM and DW ran overnight on the most reasonably priced slots. Of course today would be a WFH day for MrEH - typical! Regardless of the electric prices though that still represents a good saving over his travel into London and back, so we’re still up overall.I think I’m going to make today all about the little jobs around the house which will be constructive but use little electric…and avoid opening the fridge or freezer more than needed! 😆🎉 MORTGAGE FREE (First time!) 30/09/2016 🎉 And now we go again…New mortgage taken 01/09/23 🏡
