I'm heading off into April with £69 spent over the last couple of days; £12 at the supermarket & £15 at the butchers yesterday, and £42 at the market this morning. It's a quiet weekend with just the 3 of us but there'll be 5 for the following weekdays and 6 for a while after Easter. We have what feels like hundreds of eggs (The Girls are laying like crazy now) so omelette will feature somewhere in the week's meal plans & there's plenty of stuff in the freezer. I will need to run down to L!dls at some point for loo roll and a few other non-perishables, but there's no rush so I'll choose my moment carefully, bearing in mind we'll be into the hurly-burly of holiday traffic for the next couple of weeks.Angie - GC Jul 25: £225.85/£500 : 2025 Fashion on the Ration Challenge: 26/68: (Money's just a substitute for time & talent...)9

Hi All my budget for April for 4 adults is £260 for the next 4 weeks. Freezer is running low but there is plenty in the larder. I bought a huge bag of apples about 8 in the bag from Home Bargains for £1 and I have peeled and sliced them, popped them in the freezer, crumble to come from that.
I didn't keep up with my totals last month, i am new on here!! but i came in at approx. £273, so not too bad really.
I try my best!!7 -
Hello I tried the grocery challenge last year but life got stressful and I stopped posting. I would really like to take part again please - I feel like I have no idea of how much my shopping is going to cost anymore as the prices change daily! Our house is 2 adults - one gluten free, an 8 year old who has just become vegetarian and a dog. I am going to set this months budget at £250 - we are away for a week in April staying with family so feel this should be doable. I also have vouchers and loyalty points I can use if needed.
@elsiepac please can you put me down for £250 to cover 1st - 30th April

Hi @elsiepac and others. Thanks for running this thread and keeping us accountable. I'd like to go in for
£400 for April 1 - 30
That includes a lot of restocking at the Middle Eastern store for spices, rice, etc along with ordering a leg or shoulder of lamb for hosting Easter dinner. Lidl also has some Easter sales I'd like to take advantage of like whole salmon which I'll portion up and freeze along with whole duck. Aldi also has a few items I'd like to try too.
Question for others: do you include Easter eggs in your regular grocery total? This would be a first time doing it for me because I was never raised on it. My husband specifically said he wants an Easter egg this yearand I figure I should get one for our dinner guests too. Mr. Jings just wants a bog standard salted caramel Cadbury's egg... hopefully those are sold in our local stores.

If you don't have a specific budget for "holiday" gifts then I would include in grocery. budget. Personally I don't do Easter eggs but if I did it would come out of the gifts budget.
