  • This is what I used when I redid the lights in my hall and landing.
Was very pleased with how solid and well made they felt. (caveat I am not an expert!)

Was pleased with the service from Edwardes to, though I have also bought the same fittings for the kitchen from ledbulbs.co.uk who were just as good.

And if you can find an exact replacement, it is going to cost a lot more than just a bulb would have done. There is also a greater mass of waste to dispose of (most will end up in landfill).

Treasure the moments that you have. Savour them for as long as you can for they will never come back again.

Personally I wouldn't buy integrated lights. Apart from the extra cost to buy them, LED bulbs do blow, and the hassle of having to wire in a new light ( if you can get one ) compared to just popping in a new bulb seems daft

What are the advantages of integrated?
They are supposed to be more reliable as for traditional bulbs the main problem is fitting a reliable voltage transformer for LEDs into the bulb. Also, they are more flat and need less headroom

That makes sense. Mind you, I'd rather replace two bulbs than one light fitting!

Good quality integrated recessed luminaires are literally plug and play to replace once installed.

The problem is if it needs replacing in 5 years and they don't make the same one anymore. You either have to have one ( or more ) odd ones in the room, or replace perfectly good ones when you replace the lot so they all match

And if you do have to remove the good ones, a full unit is more than a gu10 bulb or even a full downlight. Can see the use for some but don't think they're for me.
