Ridiculous number of daily soft searches.

Since 15th March I have noticed a ridiculous number of daily soft searches on my Credit Karma account, from a company called Madison CF UK Ltd T/A 118 118. They are for 'Quotaion and 'Affordability'. I have contacted them for an explanation, but have heard nothing back yet.

I have had two searches so far today. Yesterday there were 12, the day before 9. Each time there was a Credit Karma Consumer Credit file Request.

I have never come across anything like this before. Then only thing I can think of is that I did a Compare the Market search for car insurance for my son, but because he is disabled, I put in my own email address. Yet the searches are in my name, not his?

Transunion is looking into it for me, but should I be worried?

if you have at any offers on your credit karma account this may explain why

would not be too concerned unless someone has hacked your account, or hard searches start to appear

Hi, I usually check Clearscore - it may be because my score with them has been at 1000 consistently for months now. . . I know nobody else can see or know but it is quite delightful to log in and there you are - with 1000 points. My Credit Karma account is totally different and they never give me a top score so I just never bother looking at that report. No point when the scores are meaningless anyway.

However, reading your OP made me want to check soft searches on my Clearscore report today and when I did this message was there (it probably always was) -

"A soft search will appear on your report when you browse for credit products, or when you check your own report. They're only visible to you and do not affect your score."

So when you're browsing, soft searches can be made. I really wouldn't worry as they won't affect your score or any lender's decision either. 

And just think of all those people (I know some of them) who don't have a clue that they even have such things as credit reports and credit histories and are happily oblivious. I don't tell them because who am I to burst their bubbles? And I know some of them are not going to believe what I tell them. Others are going to just be more convinced that there's some horrific conspiracy. There probably is but we're all better off not knowing.

If you are financially linked to anyone who is getting loans etc they show as soft searches on your account too
