Zafira oil warning light

Most of my journeys are short, I took a 45 mile journey to Manchester airport and my oil warning light came on, twenty minutes before we go there.
The oil was probably changed around a year ago, plenty of oil in, after I checked.
I will change the oil and filter, but I am expecting the fault to be the oil pressure switch or the oil pump.
It's done 114k miles. When at the airport, checked oil, too much in, if anything. Light went off, but came back on after ten miles. Oil looks black, but not overly dirty.

Hi
Have it checked asap as it could be engine wear/fault,
From what you said and its not flickering I doubt is if its the sensor, not sure re anyhting else but like you this is a guess
Do you have a breakdown cover, see what they say
Lets see what others say but i the mean time see if breakdown cover people can help
Thnks0 -
No breakdown cover, home now, so not very useful unless miles away from home. I will probably get it again though.diystarter7 said:Hi

Is it easy for a garage to test the oil pressure, would it be easy to DIY?0 -
Ok, have a quick look o the vuaxhall forums uk, I'm sure there are dozens there that will have an idea.sevenhills said:

Go for the biggest forum and post in the general comments often a quicker response

There are two oil warning lights on a Zafira. One is just an oil can which indicates a problem with oil pressure and one is an oil can with a wavy line underneath which indicates a problem with the oil level. Are they showing as yellow or red?0

oil level is good OP stated0

Which is why I asked which warning light was coming on. If it is the oil level light and there is plenty of oil it would indicate that the oil level sensor is faultydiystarter7 said:oil level is good OP stated0 -

and nothing more serious? If that is the case, then well done. However, did you note the oil pressure light comes on after the OP has been driving - so can you please confirm it is still the case as you said and if so, then that is good news for the OP
Thnaks0 -
To be fair, the OP never mentioned it was the oil pressure light. They said the oil warning light was coming on. The oil pressure light is red and would suggest something more serious but until we know for sure which light it was we are just guessing at solutionsdiystarter7 said:

Thnak you, very true.
Lets hope the OP gets it sorted and its a simple, cheape fix,
OP, when you have a mo later in the week and know what the exact problem was, if you could update that would help others that may encounter similar problems over the weeks, months and years as people do look up threads
Good luck
