Talkmobile delivery issue

I ordered a Talkmobile deal on Monday and the Sim has not arrived yet, therefore had to cancel order. Does anyone know if this is typical of Talkmobile these days. Didn't have a problem last time I used them.
Cheers

Signed up to a 30 day sim only contract on 19th April £6.95. Delivery of sim said it could take upto 5 working days (1 whole calendar week) to arrive so I selected a switching date 5 working days away of 25th April (if I’d selected one closer the sim may not have arrived in time and my old network would have disconnected me and I’d have been left without a working phone). Billing and charges started that day (19th) even though it was physically impossible to use the service as I hadn’t received the SIM card yet! Why do I pay for 2 phone services when I can only use one at a time? Sim received 3 days later (no tracking service used to send) and only inserted into phone for first time on 25th (number switching date). Don’t forget - Talkmobile will be able to check this. I’ve now received my first bill charging me £8.28. I spoke to customer service and sent them screenshots of bill and order confirmation on 19th showing £6.95. The bill clearly shows from 19th-25th £0.00 charge but customer service told me the extra was for this period! That didn’t make sense and I told her this but I was told the extra charges were clear on the bill (it wasn’t). Anyway I’m leaving, if they do this what other problems will I have in the future. I’ve been with a few other networks and none have ever done this. Also - on the point of SIM card arrival: if the sim takes (upto) 5 working days to arrive, that’s 1 week. Now if you are paying from the date of the order that means you are paying for 4 weeks but only being able to use the service for 3 of them. Now if every one of their customers are having the same service that’s a lot of money collectively Talkmobile are saving with all these customers collectively not using their infrastructure. My amount is small but they have a lot of more expensive contracts people have. I don’t like companies who use sly little tactics to try and rip people off, I will always call it out.

You are obviously very keen to not have any overlap between your old and new airtime services. From a moneysaving perspective this is obviously ideal.
Personally I would never cancel service on an existing SIM until I had made sure that the new service was connecting OK and gave the coverage I was expecting (eg Wi-Fi calling was working). Might mean double billing for a few days but rather this than no/inadequate service with no fallback.2
