Virgin Media - Price Increase - More than 50% - Retention Deals ?

Options
A family member is currently paying £13.83 with Virgin Media for 125Mbps Broadband only service but received the price notification letter stating that this will be going up by £7.00 (an over 50% increase).

Before they try and put in their cancellation request, what price have people been managing get for such a service ?

Thanks in advance

There are 6 or 7 posts about this just this and Virgin just this week. Can't hurt to have a search.

Everyone just gets the rise dismissed by calling up.

Not everyone is phoning them - I sent a stern letter to their complaints department and was informed that the increase wouldn't be applied to my account.
Got stiffed over renewal last time I used the phone, so now it is all written communications with them.

Her courage will change the world.

Treasure the moments that you have. Savour them for as long as you can for they will never come back again.

Then I'd recommend phoning them rather than going straight to a letter. If you are reasonable, you can get them removed.

I've just gone through this with Virgin Media this afternoon

11 months left on my 18 month contact. Have been paying £24 a month for their 125Mbps package.
They wanted to increase it to £31, so 30% increase
Phoning them up, the automated system straight away offers to reduce the increase to £3.50 for the next 6 months
Getting through to a person, they pretty much immediately offered to reduce the increase to £1.40, and gave me a bit off my next monthly bill on top.

I know I probably could have pushed further, but I didnt really want to spend more time on the phone today
