If I rent out a £1000 per month flat to my relative, lets say the taxman takes £400. So if I tell my family member they can have it for £600 per month, as long as they upgrade everything to new, and I evade tax, am i doing the relative a favour? Not really. And as a bit of a bonus I wont do gas checks either.
Or am i misunderstanding?2 -

Or am i misunderstanding?Sounds about right and canny thinking from the landlord’s perspective. Though gas safety certificate shouldn’t be more than £70!0 -
If nothing else, it's important the LL understands how badly this COULD go for them if the tenant decided to play hard ball, especially given they are talking about renting this property out again (presumably to non-family members).
So, as part of that tea and cake conversation, I'd be looking to drop in that I was shocked by the advice I'd received online re tenant rights when the landlord has failed to carry out their legal responsibilities.I'm not an early bird or a night owl; I’m some form of permanently exhausted pigeon.0 -
