Expired Contract?

Hi morning everyone.
I'm with BT broadband my contract expired in Feb and the price increase by £6 per month. Obviously the cpi increase comes in April whihc is another 5 or 6pounds again.
My question is should I look to switch now to a new provider or wait it out until after 1st April to allow the offers/prices to settle?
Seem daft to me that all these companies push their deals throughout feb/March but don't factor inthe potential 15% increse to the prices to help with transparency.

Apparently there is a point at which new ‘contracts’ taken out in the weeks just  before the price increase date of 31March  , don’t get the 2023 increase and maintain whatever price they agreed in the few weeks before 31 March , presumably this is the way the BT billing run works,  by the time the account is set up the 2023 increase has already been processed for existing customers , so new or renewing customers are not included in that increase , but if it were a 24 month contract that was agreed, then the 31March 2024 increase will be applied but hopefully inflation will be less

My contract is up on the 24th and looking for a new provider. Problem is I spoke to a few and most are saying they will go up even though I am just a few weeks away from the 31st March. So I am going to wait on my existing provider and see if there are any new deals after April 1st. I be a fool not too.

This has a reply  from a BT Forum Mod , confirming that a renewal ( with BT ) done  after March 1st won’t be affected by the March 31 increase, it’s in the past now , but at the time in February when the original question was asked , a renewal in February would get the March increase, obviously waiting until April to renew has the same benefit but potentially comes with a cost of paying for a few weeks at a potentially higher rate than necessary , obviously other providers may vary

I've seen similar postings about the April price increases and their application being posted by reps on Community boards and help chats from a couple of broadband & mobile suppliers.

If this is their policy then why isn't it published on their websites? Why is it not part of the Terms & Conditions? If I make a purchase based on this "advice" and it is not honoured, does it trump the price increase advice given in the T&Cs?

TBH , I think it’s fairly clear , ISP customer of all types , new , within minimum term and outside a minimum term are subject to the annual price increase, but with new and renewing customers this year with high inflation , there is a sweet spot to either join or renew , apparently between March 1st and 31st ( the 31st when the increase is applied from  ) ‘escape’ the increase, presumably the ISP basically grabs the billing data for the customer base  close to or on the 31st , and applies the increase from 31st, anyone joining or renewing in the month before is not picked up by this data grab because their billing info is  ‘new’ or being ‘renewed’ so not part of that data grab.

I’m not sure what you mean about publishing it on the website, the increase is applied on March 31 to existing customers , if someone becomes a new customer in the month before , thinking the increase will apply to them , but then it doesn’t , that’s a positive not a negative, so they are hardly likely to complain that BT didn’t put their price up , everyone else may not be happy , but they agreed to the annual increase when they joined , obviously someone joining or renewing, and the date of joining or renewing means miss just miss the first increase , but they have a 2 year deal , they will still get 2 increases while they are within the minimum 24 month term , but potentially inflation will be lower so the price increase lower when the first increase hits them.
