Mid Contract Broadband Price Increase by Virgin Media

Hi, I am currently mid way through a fixed price18 month TV/Broadband contract with Virgin Media. They have sent me a letter today saying that they are increasing the price by £9/month before the contract ends. Can they do that?

They can, it's crap but it's standard.
Ring them on 0345 454 1111, follow the "I'm thinking of leaving" option and it will automatically offer you, my guess is, £4.50 off. Ignore that and you'll get through to someone.
There you can, if you're firm, get them to credit your account £9 per month for the rest of the contract. I have literally just done this for a £7 rise on my £30 bill, 18 month contract but only 14 months in.0
