Bott and CO have just said no due to bad weather.  Its defo small claims, so i guess it is whether I want to risk losing £80 or whatever the court fee is.

If it's just down to weather, I'd agree.

Wizz IIRC refused to pay on a claim for an already delayed (but by less than 3 hours) flight when Luton closed due to the runway melting and most of us agreed here no compensation was due. I don't think this was taken further but we also agreed on another thread concerning the same flight in the opposite direction that the cancellation wasn't within their control.

De-icing is similarly the responsibility of the airport in the same way as runway safety so I can't see a judge feeling the case should be different here or that it should be handled differently.

The relevant flight numbers assuming it's the route I remember were W95125/6 (@eskbanker may be able to confirm this was a Tenerife flight as I'm sure we both commented there, just to note we do normally agree when it comes to travel claims), so it may be worth a forum search as I'm sure most of the circumstances will be the same, even though this is at opposite ends of the weather spectrum.

Just been having a bit of a rummage around to see if I could locate the German case that OP mentioned (as requested previously, a specific citation would obviously be helpful) but came across numerous references to deicing being declared to be the airline's responsibility (via their contracted ground handlers) rather than the airport's, not necessarily across the board but as a matter of airport policy at certain large airports such as Heathrow, Manchester, Dublin, etc.

OP - which airport were you flying from?
