My parents had their polycarbonate roof replaced with a lightweight roof with small skylights.  Its transformed the room - cooler in the summer, and much warmer in the winter so they find they can use the room all year round now.  Also its far quieter when it rains.  Only negative is less daylight gets through to the rooms it connects to.

There's a number of previous threads on here on that issue - please try a search for 'insulated' 'conservatory' 'roof' and variations thereon.
Thanks for the reply as unnecessary as it was 👍

Thank you for retrospectively confirming my reply wasn't necessary.

Hang on - do you look like your avatar?
    Er, you are very welcome.
I'm sensing you are lonely. That's ok

    I'm sensing you are lonely.
    Not any more

My first reply was well-intentioned; there are a number of threads on here on just this issue, and they are worth reading.
My subsequent reply was a joking-in-earnest response to your seeming irascibility.

And if I were that lonely, I'd be trying to win friends and not alienate aliens.
