Flexible Octopus

I'm looking at switching from OVO to Octopus. The reasons for leaving basically boils down to poor customer service. I've had an online quote from Octopus and they suggest the "Flexible Octopus" plan. Is anybody else on this? Is it a monthly DD plan, a pay on demand tariff or something different?
I've not switched suppliers for a few years and have a sense of trepidation (and a phobia of call centres). Is switching really as easy as they say?

I think the majority of Octopus customers are on a version of the Flexible tariff these days. You can pay a DD or a bill at the end of the month, but it costs more to pay the bill.
  • Flexible is their default variable pay monthly tariff which is a fixed direct debit. I've been switched from Bulb and have been with them just over a month now. I've switched a few times over the years and it is very easy, just make sure you give them your closing meter reads on the day you switch.

...regarding "sense of trepidation". i remember the bad old days of switching and was worried.....i started my switch to Octopus on the 2nd Feb and was fully switched and on their "books" on the 4th feb.

call centre is great but most if not all can be done on the app/website.

I was never a serial switcher, but had switched 3 or 4 times over the years. We were migrated to Octopus in Sept 21 when Avro went bust and chose to have smart meters installed last year.
I can honestly say Octopus is the best energy company I’ve ever been with. Bills are clearly set out, I’m able to set my own monthly DD amount, reclaim excessive credit, and the couple of minor glitches we had were sorted out by email.

Make sure you ask a friend or family for their referral code, then you both get £50 when you've switched to Octopus.

100% agree. Octopus is a great company. Plus, they're 2023 'Which Magazine' top energy supplier.
  • Switching's a piece of cake for the vast majority of people, it was for me. Occasionally things go wrong with Octopus as they do with any company, but they go wrong less often with Octopus!

    4.7kWp (12 * Hyundai S395VG) facing more or less S + 3.6kW Growatt inverter + 6.5kWh Growatt battery. SE London/Kent. Fitted 03/22 £1,025/kW + battery £2495

And when they do, Octopus actually sort them out.
