Cheapest way to communicate with solicitor?

I have been emailing my solicitor but he usually phones me back and talks a lot then emails me and recaps about our conversation. Given I am trying to keep costs as low as possible any ideas how I can stop him talking so much? A lot of the conversation is repetitive and unnecessary in my opinion, thanks in advance

Letter. ...he's a capitalist just trying too make a few pound lol . Or a solicitor trying to give you great service, depends on your outlook.1

Do you know that he has the meter on throughout the time he's talking to you? If you're concerned, just ask him.1

You can say in your e-mail that you don't expect him to call and are happy for him to email if he needs further information from you.
All posts are my personal opinion, not formal advice Always get proper, professional advice (particularly about anything legal!)1 -
Solicitors charge several hundred per hour plus VAT then an admin charge of something like £30 plus VAT. They have a list in their offices which then adds on extras from photocopying, envelopes, paper, phonecalls etc right down to paperclips! I did as much as I could myself and went through their bills with a fine toothcomb and found they had overcharged me a couple of times.1

Talk to him (by email if you prefer), but you need to tell him how you feel about the need to control costs and your impression that it may be more cost effective to talk less when on the phone. Don't assume he's trying to rack up fees - he may genuinely believe you value the service (he's not a mind reader!), especially if you've not said anything to the contrary.john110375 said:I have been emailing my solicitor but he usually phones me back and talks a lot then emails me and recaps about our conversation. If he's charging on a time spent basis then whichever way you contact him will incur costs. It may actually be more time efficient to have a conversation than be going backwards & forwards with email queries. He will still be charging for the time spent reading & responding to your email, time spent printing it off & fling it away etc etc1
