HSBC debit card purchase rejected by HSBC

The authentication will either be a text with a code to input, or a request for you to authorise the payment in the App, it’s not a phone call from a human. The only time they would call is if it’s their fraud team who want you to potentially validate a large transfer to a new payee that they consider to be suspicious.
If you’re concerned about being randomly called to be sold a product or service they could just as readily call a landline. You could just as easily miss a landline call as a mobile call, as I presume you don’t take your phone into the shower with you?
I would recommend you follow the very good advice given by wmb194, as that will ensure you’re able to securely validate debit card transactions & resolve your concerns about unwanted contacts2 -
You can also opt out of marketing communications fairly easily. It's a legal requirement that they listen to your preferences, so they'd get into a bit of trouble if they called trying to sell you things when you've told them not to.piker57 said:The authentication will either be a text with a code to input, or a request for you to authorise the payment in the App, it’s not a phone call from a human.
