I've just re-read both letters and I can't see any text that suggests any element of them are optional.Coupon-mad said:No, that's not the bit.

What should I assume from this, that there was something wrong with my original defence or that I just have the opportunity to, if I want to?Coupon-mad said:OK so you must do both things, even if you don't want to amend your defence! ...do you?0 -
It's allowing you the option to change/add to/edit your Defence if, in light of the fuller Particulars of Claim, there is more emerging that you had previously not covered in your initial Defence.BBL70 said:

I personally don't get involved in critiquing court case Defences/Witness Statements, so unable to help on that front. Please don't ask. .
I provide only my personal opinion, it is not a legal opinion, it is simply a personal one. I am not a lawyer.

Today's numpty question - how does the Witness Statement and Defence differ?
Looking at the example Witness Statements I was originally directed to, these are very comprehensive both in terms of the specific circumstances and the relevent points of law. What in addition should the defence cover?0
