Calling all Lloyds Bank customers to change banks

  • 'the daily charge includes sat/sunday and even bank holidays' says OP. Like I said they are happy to charge at those times and conveniently tell you that they won't register the fact you paid in, whether it's Friday night or Sunday morning. Weekend banking is only banking when it suits the bank and not the customer.

What is the point in having telephone banking and internet banking??

My wife has recently been charged £180 for going £60 overdrawn...Even though she put £60 into her account....but because of these new rip off charges they have implemented any monies paid in say on a Friday night doesn't get counted until Monday...yet the daily charge includes sat/sunday and even bank holidays....is this legal???? It probably is but it is no way morally right especially when checks are only counted on working days.

Well the good thing to come out of this is she is moving her business to a bank that doesn't treat its customers as a milking cow....and i urge all those being treated similar to do the same....they will soon get the message that along with reclaiming our bank charges we will not stand for this daylight robbery any more.

Where do Lloyds thing my wife is going to get £180 to pay the charges...plus they are being deducted on Jan 2...who has those kind of funds a week after Christmas....These banks are trying to fleece hard working people to help pay for this credit card crunch, a problem that they created but we are paying for...I am of the opinion that if there is a recession in 2008 it will be the fault of the banks and no one else...Does anyone else share this view?????

Roll on this trading standards decision on the bank charges and hopefully they will find in our favour and we will then reclaim all charges owing...I have already done it with HSBC this to the tune of £1600.

    When on a Friday night?
If she pays cash over the counter when the bank is open surely the money is credited immediately.

If u check the terms its says you have till 3.30pm to pay in to cover - so even if you pay in at 4pm on the Friday then that is too late and charges will be levied...

Also i have no idea how they charged £180 for being £60 o/d - it must of been overdrawn for a good 8 days or so.

If so then I cant see that being the banks fault

True. The waiver expires at 3.30pm so funds paid in at 4pm would warrant the charge, but only the one day charge. Counter funds credit right away. A Friday 4pm counter payment would incurr the one day charge. It should not include the Saturday and Sunday.

The new overdraft fees do however include a charge for the non working days (ie Saturday and Sunday).
Whilst my posts do not constitute financial advice, I am always, without fail, 100% right! :D

I wonder how long it will take the OP and his wife to run up charges from the bank they are moving too?

Obviously not learning from the 2 accounts they have been charged on already!

I make that an APR of just over 12,000%. And people complain about the rates of the 'Lenders of Last Resort' like the Payday Loan Companies and Provident. OP, if you are a bit short, register with a reputable Company like The Money Shop or Cash Converters, they charge a much more reasonable APR for this type of borrowing than sharks like Lloyds TSB! And if my calculation is wrong, feel free to correct my APR.
EDIT - I realise the lower rate is partly because it is agreed borrowing, basically, as long as you have ID, proof of address and are breathing the loan will be agreed, although the latter criteria may be waived in exceptional circumstances!
