Calling all Lloyds Bank customers to change banks

My wife has recently been charged £180 for going £60 overdrawn...Even though she put £60 into her account....but because of these new rip off charges they have implemented any monies paid in say on a Friday night doesn't get counted until Monday...yet the daily charge includes sat/sunday and even bank holidays....is this legal???? It probably is but it is no way morally right especially when checks are only counted on working days.

Well the good thing to come out of this is she is moving her business to a bank that doesn't treat its customers as a milking cow....and i urge all those being treated similar to do the same....they will soon get the message that along with reclaiming our bank charges we will not stand for this daylight robbery any more.

Where do Lloyds thing my wife is going to get £180 to pay the charges...plus they are being deducted on Jan 2...who has those kind of funds a week after Christmas....These banks are trying to fleece hard working people to help pay for this credit card crunch, a problem that they created but we are paying for...I am of the opinion that if there is a recession in 2008 it will be the fault of the banks and no one else...Does anyone else share this view?????

Roll on this trading standards decision on the bank charges and hopefully they will find in our favour and we will then reclaim all charges owing...I have already done it with HSBC this to the tune of £1600.

    You seem to have a serial problem in your household ... still, it's good to share.
    Meanwhile get yourselves some overdraft facilities then the problem will not recur.

    Well I have been with Lloyds for over 25 years and have always kept within the terms and conditions and have had found them to be an excellent bank.

    I think you are the problem and not the bank. You already say with HSBC you claimed or are claiming £1600 in charges. No doubt it is the banks fault once again and never yours. I think whoever you bank with you will have problems because you do not comply with the terms and conditions.

    lol what a judgmental comment. tbh yes they should charge overdraft fees but not every day especially when you know there is a problem (which I did when I realised they hadn't taken it from my Barclays account). £135 for one small mistake is a bit much espeically when Lloyds make £5 billion+ in profit a year.

    Op ought to get an overdraft and stay within the limit-problem solved?

    LTSB are no worse than any other bank when levying charges.

    It would appear the OP makes a habit of not keeping within the terms and conditions. The poster even goes on to say he has already claimed from HSBC £1600. I wander how many small mistakes he made with them to warrant the amount.

    With the greatest respect whoever the poster banks with they will always have problems.

    Damn Lloyds are so bad for not being able to tell that you paid in money after close of business. They should be shot for not using a crystal ball.

  • I always thought that banks were a 24/7 business what with internet and phone banking. They are happy to charge interest on weekends and yet not register that the OP's wife paid money in on the Friday. Hmmmm.

    You thought wrong. Saturday and Sunday are not working days and funnily enough bank holidays aren't either.
    They are happy to charge interest on weekends

    It wasnt paid in on Friday. It was Friday night. After close of business. Next working day is Monday. The bank has no way of telling that someone is going to pay in after they close for business.
