Disabled Parking - Group Nexus LEGAL ACTION PENDING

Hi there and I apologise if this post is in the wrong section, please feel free to move it etc.
Ok so to try and make a long and very sad story short:
My wife has recently been diagnosed with terminal brain cancer and we applied and received the Disabled Parking Badges for display.
We were visiting friends and family in the town and went to Tesco Supermarket, I believe after the fact that I understand this may be a MULTISITE, I am not 100% sure if Tesco own the carpark.
We went to the disabled bays and displayed the badges entered the time etc. We were parked for around an hour.
We had a few things from tesco and went on our way, then my Wife (KEEPER) receives a notice of charge from NEXUSGROUP with photo of the car times etc. From what I can gather this was not a ticket but one of those number plate recognition things.
This obviously took us quite by surprise and they are saying that apparently we needed to enter our license plate number inside tesco, but unfortunately as we are regular Tesco customers in our local town and there is no such practice we did not expect this and clearly did not notice any signs, or even look hard for them to be fair, as a new disabled badge holder we obviously did not understand the process and will surely be looking out for this type of thing in the future.
Anyway my wife actually replied back to the demand stating she was not in fact driving and that I was!
This has now led a letter to come to me in my name with this "LEGAL ACTION PENDING" I have tried speaking to the manager at Tesco but cannot seem to get through to them
What are my options please? would a statutory declaration help at court?
So stressed with everything going on at the moment and this is all I need
Thank you for any help offered

Ok so you are now on a journey, a journey which will take effort but if you follow the advice here https://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/discussion/4816822/newbies-private-parking-ticket-old-or-new-read-these-faqs-first-thankyou#latest
You will win so the first step is to find out who owns the land you parked on and complain to the land owner, do not let them say they cannot do anything, they appointed the parking scammers and can insist the charge is cancelled.
Meanwhile read the above and look on this site for similar threads.
As the local manager is not getting back try the CEO, I think this is the correct email....
