We dont want to rent as we see it as money going down the drain
It's not going down the drain though; you're paying for a service.

It cant do any harm and you never know ;-) Even 20 years down the line. Had you done it when your parents said you would have 5 years under your belt already.
So in answer to your question YES ;-)

Yeah of course, but rent isnt any cheaper than a monthly mortage payment. And i would much rather being paying for a house that i would own at the end than paying someone esle and not having nothing to show for the money.

Thanks for replying to my thread mariagti, now here's my advice for you! Put your name down but like you said you wont get anything straight away. At least you'll be on it, small places that are not suitable for families does come up so you may be lucky. When my ex left me he went back to live with his mother and put his name on the list. Months later he had a small flat! Wish it would work as quick for us!!

The government have to do something for us normal low income people. It would stop half the young girls getting pregnant to get a flat too, if they just built real affordable homes. They say they have built affordable homes near me which are just as expensive as other houses.

Are there only low incomes in your area? Maybe putting your name down for training courses would lead to the option of buying in the future? Got to be a better bet than waiting for the council to give you anything at their own leisure.
    Been away for a while.

Yeah to tell the truth i'd rather go with a housing association than council list as they seem to have flat/houses in much better areas!;) Not sure where i go to get information about the housing assocations though?
